There are currently two views in the medical community, each with its own reasons:
One is to brush your teeth immediately after meals. The reason is that the fundamental cause of dental caries is dental plaque composed of a large amount of bacteria and food debris. The formation of dental plaque takes a certain amount of time, and the peak period is half an hour after a meal. Therefore, brushing your teeth immediately after eating can effectively prevent the formation of dental plaque, thereby reducing the occurrence of dental caries, ensuring oral hygiene, and maintaining oral health.
Second, brush your teeth half an hour after meals. The reason is that after eating, the saliva in the mouth will produce a large amount of acidic substances during the digestion of food, and the fundamental chemical basis for the formation of caries is that the acidic substances destroy the hard enamel on the tooth surface and demineralize it. Caries form. Half an hour after a meal is the peak period of acid production.
Our point of view is that all the above are reasonable, but one thing is certain: although brushing is the main and effective way to maintain dental health, it is not the only one. There is a saying that the eight-character policy for caring for your teeth is: "Brush your teeth every day and check them regularly." So I still suggest that you brush your teeth carefully twice in the morning and evening, that is, twice after getting up and before going to bed at night, and then go to a professional dentist for regular check-ups, find problems, and deal with them in time, and you will definitely have healthy teeth.
