Introduction:
The combination of reality and fiction is a traditional aesthetic thought in China, which plays an important role in expressing artistic conception and its value cannot be underestimated. With the development of aesthetics, the idea of combining reality with reality has been applied and developed not only in painting, drama, architecture, calligraphy and other fields, but also in graphic design. Western graphic design theory collides with the aesthetic thought of China Taoist virtual reality, which makes the design field develop better. However, the combination and application of some modern graphic design works and virtual reality thought is still superficial, too formal, too pursuing visual impact, ignoring the cultural background behind virtual reality aesthetic thought. Excellent and rich cultural background can often achieve excellent graphic design works, provide a kind of artistic conception beauty for the viewer, and create emotional resonance with the viewer by creating a space where reality and reality coexist, thus narrowing the distance and creating unlimited imagination space. Therefore, how to apply traditional artistic expression techniques to modern graphic design works, combine modern elements with traditional aesthetic thoughts, promote the inheritance and innovation of China's traditional aesthetic thoughts in modern art, make design works embody deeper cultural connotations, and enrich and develop modern graphic design theories has become a key issue for contemporary designers.
First, the theory of virtual and real coexistence.
(1) What is virtual and real?
"The combination of reality and fiction" refers to fiction and fact's mutual connection, mutual penetration and mutual transformation, reaching the realm of the coexistence of reality and fiction, thus greatly enriching the images in the works, opening up the artistic conception of the works, providing readers with a broad aesthetic space and enriching people's aesthetic taste. Virtual reality stresses the expression of artistic conception. "Reality" refers to concrete objects and real scenes, which are visible to the naked eye, while "emptiness" is a blank in the picture. Through "emptiness", we can express the author's inner feelings, create an artistic conception and give the viewer unlimited imagination.
(B) the performance of virtual reality in art.
Traditional art in China pays attention to the combination of reality and fiction, and many traditional paintings, calligraphy, dramas and other works use the expression of the combination of reality and fiction to express rich connotations and far-reaching artistic conception. Mr. Zong Baihua said in "Aesthetic Walking":
Because of "essence", because of eliminating the rough and retaining the essence, there is "emptiness" in artistic expression, "washing away the dust and leaving me alone" Because of "perfection", Mencius said that "perfection is called beauty, and perfection is called greatness" can be realized. The dialectical unity of "emptiness" and "reality" can complete artistic expression and form artistic beauty. [ 1]90
It can be seen that the combination of reality and reality plays an important role in artistic expression and plays the role of finishing touch. In Han Xizai's The Night Banquet, Gu also used blank space to express the combination of reality and fiction, such as the "screen" in the "rest" scene without any modification. Everything comes from emptiness and returns to emptiness, so the blank on paper is the real bottom of Chinese painting [1] 148. Blank pictures will not make people feel empty, or the content of the picture is lacking, because the blank of Chinese painting is not really empty for the expression of the artistic conception of the whole picture, but the exchange of gas fields between the universe and the flow of life, thus producing vivid effects. The black screen seems to have nothing, but it actually contains rich connotations. Appreciators can expand their endless imagination while enjoying the works, so as to achieve an immersive experience. The blank screen can better express the shape and personality of the characters. China's other arts will also use this kind of creative technique, such as dance, calligraphy, drama, architecture and so on.
Take China's dramatic art as an example. In China's drama performances, there are usually not many props used in the background, and the whole story presentation and picture transformation are done by actors. Leaving an empty background can fully show the development of the plot, better express the inner feelings of the actors, and be conducive to the spiritual communication between the actors and the audience.
Second, the application case analysis of virtual reality in graphic design
(A) the application of virtual reality theory in Muji poster design
The poster typesetting design of MUJI in Japan is very interesting and will show unexpected effects. For example, the series of products with the theme of "old things are born in mind" adopt the typesetting design of upper and lower parts, and the new products in the upper part are perfectly combined with the old things in the lower part, echoing the theme without being abrupt. Moreover, the typesetting design of both pictures and words is very particular. Different gray-scale colors are used as background colors, which gives people a sense of space, and appropriate blanks are left in the picture, but it will not make the whole picture appear empty. In addition, other design works of MUJI also skillfully use the combination of reality and fiction, and their design style is influenced by the aesthetic consciousness of minimalism, giving people a feeling of "nothingness", which seems to be nothingness, but can accommodate all rivers. On the one hand, Muji posters always use fuzzy gradient and blank space in the picture, which can not only highlight the key points, but also leave imagination space for the audience. At the same time, he is good at highlighting the subject with the method of size contrast, scaling people and things in an appropriate proportion, and then blending into the picture; On the other hand, Muji's posters, though simple in picture, convey people's life ideas with rich colors. Muji's design works reveal a dynamic combination of reality and reality in color matching and picture composition, which is impressive. Whether it is the use of color, layout design or composition design, the poster design of MUJI is worth learning and learning from both reality and reality.
(II) Packaging design and actual situation of "Yun Guan Orange".
Laozi believes that everything in the world is the unity of "nothing" and "being", and the unity of "emptiness" and "reality". Beauty is everywhere. When we discover and appreciate beauty, we should also pay attention to the transition from real to virtual. In modern design, we can also use the creative technology of combining virtual reality with real reality. For example, the visual effects presented by design works are real reality, while the connotation and significance behind design works are virtual reality. Designers think of virtual reality when designing works, and viewers think of virtual reality when watching them. The real scene and ethereal picture contrast and reflect each other, which can leave the audience with room for imagination. For example, in the packaging design of "Yun Guan Orange", the creative technique of combining reality with reality is also used. "Yun Guan Orange" is a double-line brand of "Chu Orange", and its packaging design is in the form of illustration. The whole painting is a fruitful tree, and the characters beside the tree record the ups and downs of Chu Lao's life and every extraordinary moment. Through the picture, people are reminded of the life of the legend of Chu and Lao, causing emotional resonance among consumers. The illustration of packaging is "reality", and the "emptiness" here does not mean complete emptiness, but contains the designer's emotion, which can enrich the meaning and artistic conception of the work. The combination of reality and reality in the picture makes the picture more convincing and leaves a deep impression on the audience and consumers.
Therefore, graphic design works should be more integrated with the creative techniques of virtual reality, which can enhance the visual effect of the picture on the one hand, and leave a broad imagination space for the audience on the other hand, causing their emotional resonance. In this way, a design work will be more meaningful.
Thirdly, the application suggestions of virtual reality in graphic design.
Virtual reality emphasizes artistic conception, without absolute "reality" or absolute "emptiness". The development of contemporary graphic design should make good use of the creative techniques of virtual reality, combine the creative techniques of virtual reality with graphic design, and create artistic conception in graphic design works, so as to make the cultural connotation of design works more profound. At the same time, the theory of graphic design will develop for a long time, and more classic design cases and design styles will be produced continuously for future generations to learn from. This kind of work and design style can provide readers with unlimited imagination, increase interest and attract consumers' attention.
(1) Typesetting design and virtual reality.
In graphic design, using the creative technique of virtual reality, the western graphic design theory is combined with the virtual reality thought of China Taoism, so as to get better development in the design field. Graphic design works are composed of points, lines and surfaces. Integrating virtual reality into the typesetting combination of point, line and surface can produce different visual effects, enrich the design content and attract people's attention. In graphic design, what needs typesetting is "real", while typesetting design and composition are "virtual". We can typeset and compose all the contents in the picture according to the law of formal beauty. Such as three-dimensional composition, diagonal composition, triangle composition, etc. , not only makes the picture beautiful, gives the audience a visual sense of beauty, but also enables the audience to grab important information at the fastest speed, thus expressing the theme efficiently. Only by constantly improving typesetting and paying attention to the importance of "virtual" in graphic design can we present better design works.
(2) The application of color and virtual reality in graphic design.
The visual effect of color is a crucial link in graphic design, and it is also one of the criteria to measure the success of a design work. Color plays an important role in the presentation of visual effects. A design work with good visual effect can not only attract the attention of the audience, but also enhance the visual presentation effect of the work, giving people a good visual experience and making people feel like enjoying a work of art when watching the work.
In the color theory of modern graphic design, we can also see the influence of reality on color. Laozi thinks that "five colors are blind and five tones are deaf". In the color application of modern graphic design, using simple and generous colors can make the picture more visually impactful. Color plays an important role in modern design and is closely related to people's lives. Cool colors will give people a depressing and dull visual feeling, and also bring "emptiness" in design, while warm colors will give people a pleasant, joyful and real visual feeling, and also bring "truth" in design. Therefore, the combination of different colors will bring different feelings to the audience. The combination of cold and warm colors in the picture is the combination of reality and reality.
(C) The artistic conception expression in graphic design, the reality and reality coexist.
Zong Baihua once said: "Exploring the special structure of China's artistic conception, which is the core and the most contribution to the world in China's cultural history, in order to spy on China's soul is also an introspective work of national culture." [ 1]68
Artistic conception is an important feature of the theory of virtual reality and reality, and it is also a part of our national culture, which is worth carrying forward and applying to more art or design fields. China's ancient art paid attention to the expression of artistic conception, and the reality coexisted. However, in contemporary graphic design, many works lost the expression of artistic conception, and the "emptiness" of the essence of ancient art was not paid enough attention. Designers pay too much attention to the visual impact of the picture, as well as the innovation in technology and form, and pay attention to formalization, which leads to the design of the work staying on the surface and ignoring the expression and creation of the artistic conception of the work itself. Therefore, contemporary graphic design should analyze and study the traditional artistic expression techniques, apply the traditional aesthetics of virtual reality to modern graphic design works, and explore the unique beauty belonging to China.
Four. conclusion
Culture is the direct source of design, and design plays an important role in the development and construction of culture, and the two complement each other. However, at present, China's design works do not convey excellent cultural connotation well, and the long-standing traditional culture is getting farther and farther away from people's lives, and even forgotten by people. Therefore, how to combine traditional artistic techniques such as the combination of reality and reality with modern graphic design is a problem that designers should focus on. The designer's responsibility is not only to design a work, but also to undertake a social responsibility. In this regard, we should innovate and develop traditional culture, combine traditional culture, enhance the external image and connotation of the works, and combine traditional culture such as virtual reality with the development of graphic design. It can not only improve the connotation of the work itself, but also let people know our traditional culture while enjoying the plane works, so as to carry forward our excellent cultural and artistic creation techniques with the help of the power of design.
