Proverbs about turtles
Among the Ming Tombs, except for the Siling Mausoleum, there is a turtle-carrying monument in front of each mausoleum. That is, the monument of divine power and virtue. Under the monument, the tortoise is used as a base. In myths and legends, the turtle is the son of a dragon. The dragon gave birth to nine children, each with his own strengths, and one of them was a tortoise. Turtles are famous for their longevity, and people have paid attention to them since ancient times. As early as in the slave society, slave owners thought that turtles lived long and naturally knew a lot. Therefore, tortoise shells are often used for divination. After it was burned, it has been judged by the grain, and then the content of divination was engraved on it and preserved. This is an Oracle inscription more than 3000 years ago. The emperor used turtles as monuments for a reason. The emperor claimed to be the son of the real dragon, and the tortoise was not only the son of the dragon, but also had the ability to carry loads. Isn't it natural for him to recite Lao Tzu's memorial tablet? How did that huge stone tablet stand on the turtle's back at that time? I haven't seen it in the specific method book, but there is a legend that "the tortoise can't see the monument". There is a story in the Japanese engraving "Wen Hai Pi Sha": When Ming Chengzu built a monument for his father Zhu Yuanzhang, the monument could not be erected because the turtle was too high, which worried the person in charge of the project. One day, he dreamed that the man of God said to him, "If you want to build this monument, you will not see the monument, and the monument will not see the tortoise." Think about it when you wake up. When he arrived at the construction site, he asked people to carry soil on the turtle's back, buried the turtle, and then pulled up the monument along the soil slope, and then removed the soil after the monument was erected. Although this historical story is superstitious, it is reasonable to say that "the tortoise can't see the monument" is the crystallization of the wisdom of ancient working people.
