How to choose and use tow rope correctly?

Trailer rescue is an unavoidable topic in cross-country activities, and negative cases of adverse consequences caused by operational errors can often be seen on the Internet. Towing rope is one of the important tools in vehicle rescue. If it is not used properly, the result may be counterproductive. So what kind of towing rope is solid and reliable? How to use the tow rope?

Selection of traction rope

The traction rope should be bright and colorful first. If it is made of reflective material, it is more conducive to night rescue. Secondly, the traction rope with corresponding traction capacity should be selected according to the weight of the vehicle; Generally, hard-core off-road vehicles have external trailer hooks, while cars and SUVs use built-in trailer rings. Don't choose old trailer belts with metal hooks. Once the trailer belt breaks or slips, the trailer hook will hit the front and rear vehicles like a bullet, causing vehicle or personal injury.

Types of trailer tools

There are three kinds of trailer tools: tow rope, tow belt and tow bar. The towing belt and towing rope should be made of strong nylon, Oxford cloth belt or steel wire, and the towing rod is generally used for urban road rescue. Rigid connection can ensure that the distance between the front and rear cars is fixed and prevent the rear car from catching up with the front car.

At present, there are few wire rope drags, which are unsafe. The trailer belt is generally 6- 10 m long and 5-8 cm wide, with strong rings at both ends.

Taking the towing belt as an example, it is suggested to use 8 tons of towing belt for vehicles with self-weight less than 1.6 tons, 1 1 ton for vehicles with over1ton, and to modify hard-core off-road vehicles with over 12 tons.

Use of traction rope

After the towing rope is installed, no matter how heavy the rescued vehicle is, a "rope-pressing object", that is, a "flag-pulling", should be fixed on the towing rope. "Flag raising" can prevent the towing rope from flying up due to inertia and injuring people around the vehicle when it is broken or the trailer ring is broken. "Flag raising" can be changed into thick clothes with bottles of mineral water or cushions in the car. In addition, personnel should not stand in the direction of the streamer to extend the streamer, but should stand outside the length and diameter of the streamer in the transverse direction.

When cars and urban SUVs are towed, it is forbidden to use the way of suddenly tightening the towing rope to rescue them, which will easily lead to the fracture of the car body structure, from the light that the trailer hook and bumper fall off, to the heavy damage of the car body structure, resulting in greater car body damage. Non-loaded off-road vehicles can decide whether to use slow traction or sprint traction according to the rescue environment.
