What policy did Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty pursue?

Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty adopted Dong Zhongshu's suggestion, pursued the policy of "ousting a hundred schools of thought and respecting Confucianism alone", rejected and suppressed other theories, and took Confucianism as the guiding ideology of governing the country. Since then, Confucianism has been established as the orthodox ideology of authoritarian dynasties, and it has lasted for more than two thousand years.

Set up a doctor of the Five Classics, a business school, and a doctoral disciple. This only recognizes the position of Confucianism at the official level, because the Five Classics belong to Confucianism.

Convene sages, and then set up filial piety classics and Ming classics. The standard for selecting officials in the country is Confucianism.

I think these two points have laid the foundation of Confucianism as orthodox thought, because it has mastered education and talent selection, and scholars all over the world will attach importance to Confucianism from now on.

Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty ousted a hundred schools of thought, which was not as violent as Qin Shihuang's burning books and burying Confucianism. He only advocated one idea, but did not suppress other ideas by violence. However, other thoughts are not valued by the state and cannot bring benefits to themselves and their families, so fewer people naturally study, thus achieving the goal of unifying thoughts.
