This Rama I was a strong and good brother when Zheng Xin went to the temple to become a monk. He kicked Zheng Xin, which was a bit like a brother's knife. So, in order to feel at ease, Rama I wrote to Qianlong, the then Qing emperor, and lied that he was Zheng Xin's son named Hua Zheng. He was loyal and hoped to continue to establish a hundred-year-old clan relationship and asked the Qing Dynasty to canonize him. Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty can enjoy the high-grade flattery of a distant seaside king, which naturally hits it off. Since then, after the Buddha Lotra Naboulet and Gessa Dabodindra came to power, they both wrote to the Qing Dynasty to request knighthood, with two purposes: one is to inherit the country of Zheng Xin, and the other is that it is always good to have good relations with big countries.
During the reign of Rama IV, Thailand broke off diplomatic relations with the Qing Dynasty. This Rama IV is a great man. He was originally a prince and the first heir. But he went to the temple to practice and became fascinated with Buddhist scriptures, so he really became a monk at the age of 20. In this case, the throne can only be inherited by half-brothers. After 27 years as a monk, Gessa Dabodindra Fuzheng's last words were that Thailand must entrust him. Therefore, Rama IV Zheng Ming ascended the throne at the age of 47 and died at the age of 64. During this period, there were 35 concubines and 82 children, making him the king with the most children in the Thai royal family.
At first, Rama IV and Qing Dynasty were very good. To what extent? Wearing official uniforms of the Qing Dynasty and taking selfies with a king are loyal fans of the Qing Dynasty, right? Wrong guess! Since the Opium War, Rama IV took the initiative to cut off contact with the Qing Dynasty. It's not hard to understand. Ever since Britain opened the door to Asia, everyone with a discerning eye can see that the luck of the Qing Dynasty has run out. Naturally, the King of Thailand was not stupid, but turned around and kept pace with the British. But their hobby of giving themselves a China name is still a tradition.
Why did the current King of Thailand return the whole name of China? If you want to get to the bottom of it, it's probably because they also have some China blood on them. It is said that Rama I was born in Ayutthaya, a community in Fujian, Thailand, and his mother was from Fujian. From this point of view, both Zheng Xin, one of the five emperors in Thailand, and the grandparents and fathers of Rama IX are now connected with China.
