Matters needing attention in the steps of gourd planting method

1, gourd seed coat is thick and water is difficult to absorb, so it is best to soak it for 24 hours before planting.

2. Dig a hole with a shovel to plant gourd seeds, which has accelerated germination. You don't need to pay special attention to the direction of the seeds, and the landfill soil will not be too solid. Choose fertile soil before potting, and mix soil and miscellaneous fertilizers in loose acidic soil, instead of alkaline soil and plank soil.

3. Transplant seedlings at the time of four leaves, and fully apply base fertilizer in fertile, sunny and well-drained places.

4. The optimum growth temperature is 20-25℃. At low temperature, the rate of multiple flowers and fruit sets is low, which hinders the growth and development of 9- 10℃.

5. The root system of gourd is developed, and water is needed in flowering period, so it is not advisable to have too much water in the later stage of fruit development.

6. Gourd is very resistant to weak light, but cloudy days will affect the normal growth of melon seedlings and fruits.

7. Control pests and diseases. Gourd is also a cross-pollinated plant. If you pollinate at flowering stage, you will bear fruit. However, the number of potted gourds is very small and needs artificial pollination. Usually, gourds only bloom at night, but every morning is the pollination period. In rainy days, plastic bags must be used to protect gourd flowers early to avoid getting wet by rain. Insect pests should also be controlled during the growth period of gourd. Especially in rainy season, gourd is easy to get sick. Pay special attention to ventilation and fertilization of gourd. If you find sick plants and leaves, cut them off immediately in order not to be infected by more gourds.
