In May 2009, Wangfei Pavilion began to be repaired and protected.
In August 2009, the exquisite flying cover on the central axis of the Presidential Palace was restored as it was in history. The flying covers in the lobby and the Bazi Hall of the Presidential Palace, which had been missing for decades, were installed on July 30 and August 29, 2009 respectively. These flying covers were copied based on photos from historical documents of the Republic of China. They were made of high-quality nanmu and hollowed out. The paint finish used mahogany furniture paint technology. It took more than a dozen skilled workers more than three months to complete.
In November 2009, the renovation project of Wangfei Pavilion was completed.
In October 2010, the exterior wall reinforcement and painting repair project of the Zichao Building of the Presidential Palace started. The "Zi Chao Building" located in the Presidential Palace was completed in December 1935. After more than 70 years of wind and rain erosion, the exterior wall paint has experienced varying degrees of hollowing, cracking and peeling, posing certain safety hazards. In order to ensure the safety of the building and tourists, the Nanjing Municipal Cultural Relics Bureau organized experts to conduct on-site surveys and put forward restoration suggestions. The specific restoration plan was designed by Professor Zhou Qi from the Architectural Design Institute of Southeast University. The entire project was fully started on October 26, 2010.
In May 2011, the renovation and internal environmental improvement project of Sun Yat-sen’s Interim President’s Office started in full swing. In order to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Revolution of 1911, with the approval of the Jiangsu Provincial and Municipal Cultural Relics Bureau, the renovation and internal environmental improvement project of Sun Yat-sen's Interim President's Office was fully launched on May 4, 2011. The program design of this project was undertaken by the Architectural Design Institute of Southeast University and the Nanjing Landscape Planning and Design Institute. In order to ensure the quality of construction, Professor Zhou Qi, a well-known construction expert from the Republic of China, was hired as the general consultant.
In June 2011, Yilan Pavilion was renovated. Yilan Pavilion is one of the classic ancient buildings of the Presidential Palace. Due to its long construction period, the wooden components have cracked, deformed, or been eaten by termites in many places. Coupled with years of paint maintenance, the paint on its doors and windows has become thicker and thicker. Originally, The exquisite carvings and patterns can no longer be seen. In order to ensure safety and restore the original historical appearance, the doors, windows, wooden columns and roof of the building will be repaired starting from mid-June.
In August 2011, some of the Daping Heavenly Kingdom’s exhibition halls were repainted. This includes replacing rotten rafters and balconies and other wooden components; repairing cracked caissons and curtains; repainting the south verandah; painting the verandah hangings, lintels, columns, doors and windows and other wooden components; repairing the Golden Dragon Palace King In front of the throne, there are support railings, gold and paint, etc.
On August 22, 2011, the maintenance project of Yilan Pavilion was completed. The doors, windows and wooden columns of the building were repaired and their exquisite carvings and patterns were restored.
On August 31, 2011, the exterior wall reinforcement and painting repair project of Zichao Building was completed. This project not only solves the problem of safety and reliability of the exterior wall.
On September 18, 2011, the renovation and internal environmental improvement project of Sun Yat-sen’s Interim President’s Office was completed. This includes the reinforcement of Sun Yat-sen's Provisional Presidential Office, new facade decoration, painting and maintenance of doors and windows, and restoration of wooden tile roofs; comprehensive repairs to the Secretariat building of the Provisional Presidential Palace; improvement of the square environment in front of the Provisional Presidential Palace office, and based on Photos of Mr. Sun Yat-sen during his tenure as interim president. A seated bronze statue of Mr. Sun Yat-sen was erected in the middle of the square for tourists to pay their respects.
In October 2011, Xijia Building was renovated. This includes resurfacing the roof and replacing the wooden base layer; replacing or replacing damaged bricks, wooden parts, load-bearing beams and columns; strengthening some foundations; repainting doors and windows, etc.
In June 2012, the renovation project of Xijia Building was completed.
On October 10, 2012, the gate tower of the Nanjing Presidential Palace was repaired and protected.
On February 4, 2013, the renovation of the main gate of the Nanjing Presidential Palace was completed. This renovation not only maintains the original style of the building, but also effectively strengthens the safety of the building structure. At the same time, based on historical photo records, the hollow parapets on the east, north, and west facades were restored.
