A foot long jade is not precious, and an inch short time is worth fighting for.

These two sentences are from Huai Nan Zi. Huainanzi said that "the sage does not value the jade of the ruler, but emphasizes the yin of the inch". The original meaning of Bi is a Yuhuan with a hole in the middle, and later generations will call the superior jade Bi Bi. Jade with a diameter of one foot is very precious. There is an old story, "He Shibi is priceless". But what we are talking about here is "ruler is not treasure", which is compared with time. Compared with time, a foot-long jade is not a treasure, but a moment is worth cherishing.
