The physics department was rebuilt from 1957. Over the past 45 years, under the guidance of the party's educational policy, from small to large, from weak to strong, from only a few teachers and dozens of students to tutors and professors 100 teachers and 1000 undergraduates, master students and doctoral students. Today, the college has a comprehensive specialty, leading disciplines, abundant talents and numerous achievements, and enjoys a certain reputation among peers at home and abroad.

The establishment of the college has begun to take shape. In the 45-year continuous development and growth, the Department of Physics has adapted to the development of higher education, derived and established the Institute of Photoelectricity, the Institute of Theoretical Physics and the Department of Electronic Information Technology, and lost no time to jointly establish the Institute of Physics and Electronic Engineering, and built a brand-new physics building, which shows the broad prospects of physics development and marks that the development of physics has entered a new and higher level in depth and breadth.
