Brief introduction of Zhuzhou navigation and power junction
Xiangjiang River is one of the main inland waterways determined by national planning, with superior natural conditions. It is a very urgent task to develop the precious water transport resources of Xiangjiang River, adjust the regional comprehensive transport structure, rationally divert the tense land transport and promote the export-oriented economic development of Hunan. 1989 to 1994, with the support of the State Planning Commission and the Ministry of Communications, the first phase of Xiangjiang Shipping was built in the 257km section from Chenglingji to Zhuzhou in the lower reaches of Xiangjiang River, and the navigation channel was rectified on a large scale, reaching the national third-class navigation standard, that is, the navigation standard for thousand-ton ships. 1995 to 2000, the second phase of Xiangjiang Shipping Construction was implemented, Dayuan Watari Wataru Power Hub was built, and the 62km waterway from Hengyang to Dayuandu Hub was channelized, reaching the waterway standard of 1,000-ton ships. However, Dayuandu-Zhuzhou 120km waterway can only pass 300-ton ships, which has become the bottleneck for the 1,000-ton waterway not to be fully connected. Zhuzhou Navigation and Power Hub is located in Kong Zhou Beach, 8 kilometers south of Lukou Town, Zhuzhou County. It consists of four parts: dam, ship lock, power station and highway bridge at the top of dam. Its functions include navigation, power generation and drinking water protection. Zhuzhou Navigation and Power Junction Project is to build another cascade between Lukou Town and Kaiyun Town to divert the navigation channels between the two places, so that the 257-kilometer navigation channel from Hengyang to Chenglingji of Xiangjiang River can reach 1000 km, so as to connect the upper and lower thousand-ton navigation channels built by Xiangjiang River Phase I and Phase II 1994 and eliminate the bottleneck. It is a key water conservancy infrastructure construction project in Hunan Province during the Tenth Five-Year Plan period and the third batch of inland waterway construction projects in China with World Bank loans.
