What else is the fire lion dance called?

Fire lion dance, also known as burning fire lion and fried fire lion, is popular in Taibao Town, Lianshan Zhuang and Yao Autonomous County.

The shape of the Taibao Fire Lion is similar to that of the Dancing Lion. The lion has multiple heads with one horn; the lion quilt is shorter and close to the upper body of the lion dancer, and there is no lion tail. The fire lion looks like a lion or a unicorn, with a powerful image.

The accompaniment of the fire lion dance is drums, gongs, money, etc. The drums direct the size and speed of the lion dance movements. The footwork includes zigzag steps, plum blossom steps, figure eight steps, etc. The lion dance movements must be both graceful and fast to avoid firecracker attacks from all directions.

In the old custom, from the first day of the Lunar New Year to the fifteenth day of the first lunar month, one-horned lions are used to pay New Year greetings to people, and the worshipers burn firecrackers and throw the one-horned lions, attacking in turn, blowing up the one-horned lions with bruises all over the body, and even burning the outer shell. Only the skeleton is left to achieve the purpose of driving away evil and ensuring peace.
