Extended data behind-the-scenes production:

1. Creative inspiration

Dream Journey was inspired by the traditional Mexican festival "Day of the Dead". In the eyes of Mexicans, death is the highest meaning of life, and life and death complement each other to complete a life cycle. So every year on the Day of the Dead, Mexicans pay homage to the dead, but there is no sadness. They even sang and danced all night to commemorate the annual reunion with their deceased relatives.

2. Thematic research

Pixar's production team went to Mexico many times, and the film production team led by lee unkrich, Adrian and Darla did a lot of special research on Mexico and its festivals, from Mexican music to local customs. For "Journey to the Dream", the producers consulted many cultural consultants, and they tried to obtain every detail to ensure the correctness without any cultural misunderstanding.

3. Movie naming

The English name of Dream Journey is Coco (the great-grandmother of the hero in the film). The title of the film DiadelosMuertos (Day of the Dead) is controversial. More than 2 1000 people signed a petition on the website, arguing that Disney's trademark registration is a typical cultural exploitation. A week later, Disney cancelled its registration and issued an official statement, changing the name of the film.

4. Music creation

Many songwriters have been invited to dream tours, including Kristen Anderson-Lopez and robert lopez in the Disney animated film Frozen. They wrote the theme song "Please Remember Me" for "Journey to the Dream Ring". Camilo Laura, from the Music Program of Mexican Vocal Music Institute, was also invited as the music consultant of the team, giving a detailed introduction and complete review of Mexican music for the production team, from Cumbia to street music.
