I woke up this morning and suddenly found two small holes behind two teeth on both sides of the front teeth. What is this? What should I do?

Cultivate good eating habits. Every time you eat and drink water, the minerals on the surface of your teeth will be lost, causing the chance of tooth decay. The more times you eat and drink, the greater the chance of tooth decay. Therefore, the breakfast, lunch and dinner should be timed and have enough weight, avoiding eating outside the main meal to reduce the frequency of eating and drinking, and drinking water only when thirsty, which can reduce the chance of tooth decay. If you are really hungry between meals, you can have tea once.

Brush your teeth with fluoride toothpaste in the morning and evening Fluoride can strengthen your teeth and make them less susceptible to acid erosion. Fluoride can also help the lost minerals return to your teeth and restore the original tooth decay. Therefore, you should get up every morning and brush your teeth with fluoride toothpaste before going to bed at night.

Check your mouth regularly every year. Check your mouth at least once a year, find tooth decay as soon as possible, and receive treatment to prevent tooth decay as needed, such as applying dental caries preventive.

Treatment:

The decayed tooth is not big, and the tooth is filled when it is still strong. If the decayed area becomes extensive and the teeth are already fragile, insert an artificial crown. Tooth decay spreads to the pulp: there are obvious cavities in the teeth, causing severe pain. Dental pulp may be infected by bacteria and die, and bacteria may even spread from dental pulp through root to nearby periodontal tissue, causing inflammation or abscess. Dental pulp treatment (root), if necessary, artificial crown will be installed. If the dentist thinks it is not suitable for endodontic treatment, the tooth should be extracted.

Tooth decay (dental caries) is the most common disease of human beings (Figure 1). Among primary school students in Taiwan Province Province, the rate of tooth decay is as high as over 90%. The tooth decay rate of adults is also above 95%. Therefore, it is no exaggeration to call tooth decay the most common disease of human beings.

Second, tooth decay is a disease caused by bacteria.

Tooth decay is an infectious disease caused by bacteria. Most bacteria in our mouth are harmless to human body, but a few bacteria can cause tooth decay. If you want to have tooth decay, you must have teeth in your mouth first (Figure 2). When the bacteria that cause tooth decay adhere to the surface of teeth, the bacteria will use the residual sugar in our diet to reproduce and produce a lot of strong acids. This strong acid can cause decalcification corrosion of enamel (Figure 3), and the decalcified enamel surface is opaque and white. When the decalcification corrosion on the tooth surface continues to deteriorate, the enamel on the tooth surface will break and form cavities, and the dentin in the inner layer of enamel will also undergo decalcification corrosion (Figure 4). At this time, the teeth may not have any clinical symptoms, or they may be slightly sensitive to hot and cold foods and sweets.

If the cavity on the tooth surface is not filled immediately, the cavity will continue to expand and penetrate into dentin, leading to pulpitis caused by bacterial infection (Figure 5). At this time, hot and cold food and sweets can cause obvious and lasting toothache, and finally cause pulp necrosis. Therefore, before bacteria enter the deep dentin and cause pulp tissue necrosis, the decayed dentin in the cavity should be cleaned up first, and then the cavity should be filled with composite materials. The filled teeth should also be kept in good hygiene and checked regularly to reduce the recurrence of tooth decay.

Third, the treatment of tooth decay.

Before filling the hole in the tooth, local anesthesia can be given to the tooth if necessary to reduce the pain that may occur during the treatment. During the treatment, the dental caries were cleaned with high-speed and low-speed mobile phone drill needles, and then filled with composite materials. Due to aesthetic factors, composite resin is usually suitable for anterior teeth (Figure 6). Posterior teeth are usually filled with silver powder (Figure 7). Silver powder has been used in clinic for decades and is the most convenient, economical, safe and effective filling material. For aesthetic reasons, the posterior teeth can also be filled with composite resin (Figure 8). However, the application conditions of composite resin are strict, and not all teeth can be applied. When the caries cavity is too large and endangers the dentin of the residual teeth, crown cover (Figure 9) or cast metal crown or ceramic crown should be considered to restore the teeth to prevent the residual teeth from breaking.

Fourth, tooth decay can be prevented.

Because, as long as there are teeth, tooth decay may occur. Therefore, the filled teeth may still be decayed. The occurrence of tooth decay must have enough bacteria that can cause tooth decay attached to the tooth surface, and at the same time, there must be sugar for bacteria to produce strong acid to corrode teeth. If bacteria can be reduced to the surface of teeth and sugar can be reduced to bacteria, tooth decay can be prevented. Therefore, brushing teeth correctly with fluoride toothpaste after meals and before going to bed, and flossing to remove dental plaque between teeth can reduce the adhesion of bacteria on the tooth surface. Not eating snacks between meals will reduce sugar supply, and bacteria will produce strong acid to corrode teeth. In addition, regular oral examination can find and treat tooth decay at an early stage, with the best effect. Using pit and fissure sealant to seal the occlusal surface of caries-prone posterior teeth can also effectively reduce the caries of posterior teeth. Applying fluoride to the whole mouth once every six months can also enhance the resistance to tooth decay.

5. Other diseases of teeth

In addition to tooth decay, other diseases of teeth, such as improper wear or corrosion of the neck (Figure 10), excessive wear of the occlusal surface of teeth, and partial fracture of the crown (Figure 1 1), can be considered to be filled with complex materials, or to restore the original shape and function of teeth with crowns or cast metal or ceramic full crowns.

"Toothache is not a disease. Is it really painful? " It has always been a popular saying, but it is actually unscientific, because toothache is a symptom of oral diseases, especially in the case of tooth decay. It is really unbearable, and I can't sleep, I feel uncomfortable and my family is very distressed. So, what if there is really tooth decay?

First of all, let's learn what tooth decay is. Tooth decay, sometimes called worm tooth, is scientifically called dental caries. The main reason is dental plaque. Dental plaque is an almost colorless film on the surface of teeth, which contains bacteria that cause dental caries. After each meal, these bacteria in dental plaque will react with sugar or starch in food to produce acidic substances that corrode teeth. Over time, the tooth enamel will be destroyed, forming a fragile cavity. If it continues to deteriorate, it will form a cavity, that is, tooth decay. Therefore, tooth decay develops from small tooth decay, not real moths or other insects, but the result of teeth being gradually corroded. In severe cases, tooth decay will lead to tooth necrosis and tooth loss.

For the cavities that have formed, you must go to the dentist immediately, so that the dentist can take timely measures to fill the cavities and prevent them from getting worse. Never have the idea of waiting, forget it. The view that "toothache is not a disease" is not only wrong, but also will delay the treatment, leading to the deterioration of tooth decay, tooth necrosis and possibly more tooth decay. If the pain is unbearable, sometimes even the dentist can't help you. It's really a small hole that doesn't mend, and a big hole suffers.

At the same time, experts pointed out that after suffering from tooth decay, it is even more necessary to use high-quality fluoride toothpaste. The so-called "it's not too late to mend." Because high-quality fluoride toothpaste, such as Crest's tooth decay prevention paste prepared by Flutai, on the one hand, fluoride ions can enter the tooth surface to form a protective layer, which helps to resist the erosion of acidic substances, thus helping to prevent the deterioration of tooth decay; On the other hand, this fluoride ion can act on other teeth, which can promote tooth remineralization, repair these early small dental caries and avoid the further development and formation of dental caries for some potential dental caries risks, that is, small dental caries.

The results of clinical research also show that compared with people who use fluoride-free toothpaste, the small cavities of fluoride-containing toothpaste users can be obviously repaired.

Here, I call on everyone to pay attention to the problem of tooth decay, never take an indifferent attitude, actively seek the help of dentists, insist on using high-quality fluoride toothpaste, get rid of the wrong idea that toothache is not a disease, and ensure the health of teeth, otherwise you will suffer in the end.

1. When you have a toothache, you can cut a small piece of ginger and bite it on the sore spot. It can be reused if necessary. It doesn't hurt to put it in your mouth when you sleep.

2. Apply honey to the toothache, and it will be fine in a few minutes, and it will also make your mouth fragrant.

3. Pick a little Yunnan Baiyao with a toothpick and add a drop of boiling water to make it paste, and then dip Yunnan Baiyao paste into the toothache with a toothpick, which will usually stop the pain after 3 to 5 minutes.

4. Aloe in the mouth: cut the aloe into small pieces, peel it, put the pulp containing viscous liquid on the painful part, and relieve itself after 2 ~ 2 hours.

5. Ice compress: Just like treating bruises, ice compress on the cheeks can relieve the pain when you have a toothache. Apply 15 minutes each time, at least 3 ~ 4 times a day.

6. Liushen Pill 1 2 pills, crushed and placed on the gum of the affected tooth for 5 to 10 minutes, once a day, usually no more than 3 times.

Tooth decay has just begun: the initial tooth decay occurs on the enamel of the teeth, and there is no pain. The surface of the teeth is usually intact and there are no holes visible to the naked eye. Tooth decay in this area adjacent to the teeth is more difficult to find. Sometimes it takes x-rays to be sure.

Treatment: Dentists can apply high-concentration fluoride to the part with initial tooth decay, so that the initial decayed part can be restored.

Tooth decay spreads to ivory: there are cavities on the teeth, and eating will make you feel toothache.

Treatment: the decayed tooth is not big, and the tooth is filled when it is still strong.

If the scope of decay becomes extensive and the teeth are already very fragile, an artificial crown should be inserted.

Tooth decay spreads to the pulp: there are obvious cavities in the teeth, causing severe pain. Dental pulp may be infected by bacteria and die, and bacteria may even spread from dental pulp through root to nearby periodontal tissue, causing inflammation or abscess.

Treatment: root canal therapy (root of tooth), and artificial crown will be inserted if necessary.

If the dentist thinks that endodontic treatment is not suitable, the tooth will be extracted.

Usually, the treatment of "tooth decay" is that the dentist first uses a laser to find out the decayed part inside the tooth. Then drill a hole and a passage on the decayed tooth with a drill. Then clean the rotten part by scraping, and finally fill the cavity of the tooth with filler. This is not only time-consuming and laborious, but also brings great pain to patients. Ozone therapy is much better now. Doctors spray ozone gas directly on dental caries, which can directly kill most of the bacteria that cause dental caries and help tooth regeneration. For children, this new method can also prevent tooth decay.

According to experts, this ozone method can kill 99% harmful microbial tissues on decayed teeth in just a few seconds. The suction cap and recovery device assembled on the instrument can also ensure that no gas leaks into the patient's mouth during treatment. After ozone treatment, the cavities have been cleaned up. Patients can choose whether to add fillers or not, which will not have much impact.

This ozone therapy is not only effective, but also very fast. In the past, it took at least half an hour to drill a tooth and fill it, while ozone treatment took less than one minute to spray a tooth.

Queen's University Belfast in Northern Ireland has studied this new method. Now, many dentists have begun to adopt this highly effective and painless ozone therapy.

"Tooth decay" is called dental caries in medicine. It is formed by Streptococcus mutans attached to dental plaque on the surface of teeth, which will ferment sugar and starch in food to produce acid and gradually demineralize teeth. Therefore, to prevent dental caries, we must start with removing dental plaque, reducing sugar intake and improving the acid resistance of teeth.

1. Brush your teeth correctly: this is an effective way to remove dental plaque. First, buy a children's health toothbrush with small brush head, soft bristles, blunt ends and elasticity, and then buy monofluoro toothpaste containing sodium fluoride or difluoro toothpaste containing sodium monofluorophosphate. Fluoride in toothpaste can strengthen tooth surface structure, promote mineralization, improve acid resistance and inhibit dental plaque. The dosage of children is about the size of peas at a time, which can be increased appropriately with age. Swallowing should be avoided when brushing teeth. When children learn to brush their teeth for the first time, parents should demonstrate and patiently teach their children how to brush their teeth correctly. The key points of correct brushing are: the bristles are about 45 degrees from the tooth surface and brush vertically along the teeth. The upper teeth are down, the lower teeth are up, and the teeth are brushed back and forth before and after occlusion. Instead of a saw-saw horizontal brush, it will damage teeth and gums. Brush your teeth for 3 minutes each time, once in the morning and once in the evening, and persevere.

2, a reasonable diet: sweets are children's favorite food, which contains a lot of sugar and starch? Such as candy, chocolate, biscuits and cakes? . In particular, sticky sweets are easy to adhere to the surface of teeth, which provides sufficient nutrition for cariogenic bacteria in dental plaque, and the organic acids produced after metabolism are very cariogenic. Therefore, children should be advised to eat less sweets, especially before going to bed, and brush their teeth after eating before going to bed. In addition, don't be partial eclipse in your daily diet. Dietary ingredients should include whole grains, beans and bean products, milk and dairy products, fish, eggs, poultry, vegetables and fruits. This is good for children's growth and health.

3, regular inspection: because there are no symptoms in the early stage of dental caries, it is not easy to be detected. Parents are anxious to take their children to the hospital until the symptoms of pain appear. At this time, they often miss a good opportunity for treatment. Therefore, doctors recommend that children have their first checkup when they are one year old, and then have regular checkups every six months. Dental caries should be treated in time. Don't neglect your child's dental health because of busy work. May your child have clean and healthy teeth.
