Ye Man's parents are very devout Buddhists, but she hates Buddhism very much and thinks it is just another pastime of the literati. At the age of eight, Ye Man became a vegetarian. She was a vegetarian because she pitied the slaughtered animals and made up her mind not to eat live animals, so what she ate was not Buddhist. This vegetarian diet lasted for 15 years, and it was not until "War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression" started that she stopped being a vegetarian when she left home.
Later, under the introduction of friends, Ye Man met Nan Huai Jin. Ye Man asked the question she had always wanted to know, "Where did life come from and where did it die?" . Nan huaijin told her that this is a common problem of many people, and its answer lies in Buddhism. Ye Man began to study the Shurangama Sutra with Nan. In the next few years, after studying the Shurangama Sutra repeatedly, she realized that she had mistaken knowledge for a pastime of the literati in the past, but she didn't know that there were such good things here.
