The compass has always been an artifact in the hands of geologists. In movies, people with high status are often seen taking out a compass, pointing, pinching and calculating. In the hands of local teachers, the compass is an extremely accurate "compass", of course, its role is much greater than the compass. Whether it is a big compass or a small compass, there will be a unified system to mark the direction, that is, the twenty-four mountains.
Let me break down in detail what the Twenty-four Mountains are. Before we talk about the Twenty-four Mountains in detail, let's know what the Twenty-four Mountains are made of. The twenty-four mountains include eight heavenly stems (A, B, D, G, N, D), earthly branches, dry Kun and root training, forming twenty-four directions. Evenly distributed on the compass.
First divide a circle into eight equal parts, and the central angle of each part is 45. These eight books are filled with eight classics and hexagrams respectively. Become the innermost layer of the compass.
In the innermost layer of the compass, it is the position of innate gossip mentioned above, that is, "the positioning of heaven and earth, the ventilation of mountains and rivers, the thin wind of thunder and lightning, and the incompatibility of water and fire."
After determining the location of the gossip, divide the circle into 24 equal parts, and the central angle of each part is 15. This is the location of the Twenty-four Mountains. Through calculation, we can find that the central angle of the inner circle is 45 and the central angle of the outer circle is15, that is, each hexagram contains three mountains, which is the origin of "one hexagram manages three mountains".
In the outer circle, we first determine the position of the meridian, that is, water in the north, wood in the east, fire in the south at noon and gold in the west.
The twelve earthly branches are arranged clockwise from the column, starting from the yin, and the yin, hair and Chen are transported in the east according to December; Not in the south at noon; Shen, you and E are in the west; Hai, Zi and Ugliness are in the North.
After determining the location of the ground support, load Tiangan and Gankun. You can fill in the corresponding position first through the heavenly stems and five elements you have learned before. Party A and Party B are oriental trees, because Party A is Yang and Party B is Yin, so Party A is on the left side of the base and Party B is on the right side of the base; C is the southern fire, C is the yang fire, and D is the yin fire, so C is left in the afternoon and D is right in the afternoon; It is western gold, Geng is yang gold and Xin is yin gold, so Geng is on the left and Xin is on the right. The water in the north is nonyl, the water in the sun is nonyl, and the water in the shade is nonyl, so nonyl is on the left and nonyl is on the right.
Finally, according to the acquired orientation of these four hexagrams, fill in the remaining Gankun Xun, which is Gankun in the northwest, Kun in the southwest, Gen in the northeast and Xun in the southeast.

Careful readers will find that there are several problems. 1. Why do you see Ren Zaizi's right side and Gui Zaizi's left side in the picture above? Didn't you say that benevolence is on the left and decyl is on the right? The reason is because where we are, we see different results. If you imagine, let yourself stand in the center of this circle and see these twenty-four mountains, right? So in Taoism, there is a formula called "I stand in the palace and gossip to protect myself." The second question is, why is there no Wuji in Tiangan? When I talked about the heavenly stems and five elements, I said that the central soil of Wuji was arranged in the central position and was generally omitted.
Through the positions of these twenty-four mountains, we also know the corresponding positions of the earthly branches.
Finally, add some knowledge. It is generally believed that Feng Shui can be divided into two schools, namely, the situational school and the rational school, which are referred to as the formal method and the rational method for short. Among them, Yang Gongfeng water, which everyone is familiar with, belongs to the formal method, and pays attention to finding dragons, checking sand, watching water, acupuncture and orientation; Metaphysics and geomantic omen is a rational method, which pays attention to the theories of yin and yang, five elements, dry branches, eight diagrams and nine palaces. In today's society, there is no clear distinction between positive law and rational law. Formal law needs the theory of generative gram in rational law, and rational law also needs the observation of mountains and drinking shapes.
