How to write brush strokes

The method of practicing China's calligraphy is as follows:

First, the preliminary preparation

Before learning China's calligraphy, you need to prepare "Four Treasures of the Study", that is, "pen, ink, paper and inkstone".

Second, writing and writing posture

Like a hard pen, the posture of holding the pen is also the key.

Learning to use a brush is like eating with chopsticks. There are no fixed rules for writing with a brush. Generally speaking, there are two methods: single hook and double hook.

The single hook method is similar to the hard pen writing method, which relies on the index finger to move up and down when lifting the pen to facilitate rotation.

The double hook method is also called "five-finger writing". That is, the index finger and middle finger hook inward around the tube, the thumb presses outward (yè, one finger presses), the ring finger presses on the brush, and the little finger is stuck under the ring finger to exert force together, and the five fingers perform their respective duties, which can be simply summarized as "pull, hold, hook, check and press".

This method relies on the mutual force of all fingers, which can write solid and powerful strokes and avoid being too smooth and erratic.

The position of wrist and elbow in writing China's calligraphy is also particular. Therefore, we should pay attention to these aspects when writing: hanging wrist, pillow wrist and elbow, and writing at the same time can be divided into sitting posture and standing posture.

Hanging the wrist: hanging the wrist with the arm angle as the fulcrum, the left hand is naturally flat on the chest, and the state is relaxed when writing, which is more suitable for writing larger characters.

Pillow wrist: Put the back of the left hand under the right wrist to give the right wrist a support point, which is suitable for writing fine print.

Hanging elbow: When writing, the elbow is suspended, the waist is straight and relaxed naturally, which is suitable for writing big characters.

Sitting posture: similar to writing with a hard pen, the feet are naturally placed on the ground, shoulder-width apart, the back is straight and relaxed, the pen is held in the right hand, and the left hand is naturally flat on the table. The posture of the whole body is like a capital letter H.

Standing posture: that is, "bow down, bend over, hang your arms, and level your feet." Head slightly lower, facing the desktop, straight line of sight, easy to put pen to paper; Lean forward slightly to match the direction of the arm; Hang the elbow forward in a figure of eight, press the paper with your left hand, and pay attention to the flexibility of the left, right, front and back when you raise the pen with your right hand; Stand with your feet open naturally, shoulder width apart.

Third, strokes and strokes

In the writing of China's calligraphy, more emphasis is placed on strokes and strokes of Chinese characters, which is also the basis of writing well.

Stroke: It is the basic component of Chinese characters. Like hard pen writing, you need to master the writing method of basic strokes.

There are eight main strokes of Chinese characters: point, horizontal, vertical, skimming, pressing, hooking, folding and lifting. Other strokes are mainly combined and changed on this basis, and writing basic strokes can achieve twice the result with half the effort.

Therefore, when learning China's calligraphy, it is important to write strokes first. And you can also use formulas to remember these strokes, such as "left is like a machete, press it like a slide, point it like a drizzle, and cross it like a long pole."

It should be noted that the problem of irregular stroke writing, such as the "apostrophe" in the word "Geng", can easily be written in a shape with a thick middle and thin ends. Here you can connect the left and the vertical (hanging needle vertical), and the hanging needle vertical is straight down, like a needle. Skimming like a curved needle, the end moves sharply, with a three-dimensional sense of ivory color and a sense of elegance of orchid leaves, which is not dull or light.

Stroke: refers to the process of starting, writing, receiving and Lian Bi when a stroke is written as a single stroke or several strokes.

In China's calligraphy, brush strokes are the key points. For example, when writing a horizontal painting, first raise the pen, the pen starts from the front, then the center moves slowly, and when the pen is closed, it is lifted to the left, following the writing law of "no horizontal or oblique".

Try your best to get the pen. That is, in the process of writing, the force should run through the strokes. If you write a vertical painting, you should hang the needle vertically, and then draw three-quarters of the strokes, and then close the pen; Hang down the vertical force to the pen collection place, then gently turn the pen tip to the right, and collect the pen before stopping the pen. The strokes written in this way are full and energetic.

Fourth, writing methods

The method of learning brush calligraphy is similar to that of hard pen calligraphy, and it can also be carried out in the way of reading, copying, presenting and using.

Pay attention to the patient observation and analysis of the words on the copybook when writing. Understand the cultural background of the characters. Observe the brushwork and morphological characteristics of strokes, and analyze the radicals and frame structure of Chinese characters according to Mi Zige, so as to reach the level of accurate writing.

When copying, we should also pay attention to practicing the original inscription. Calligraphy is generally introduced in regular script, and regular script Ou, Yan, Liu and Zhao are regarded as four great masters. Among them, Yan Heou is more suitable for beginners and can practice writing later. By practicing the original inscriptions directly, we can gradually realize the exquisite brushwork and charm of these calligraphers, so that they will not be out of shape when copying.
