Disinfection sequence of urethral catheterization cotton ball

From the periphery to the urethral orifice, it is from top to bottom, the first time is from outside to inside, and the second time is from inside to outside.

Wrap the penis with sterile gauze, push the foreskin backward to expose the external urethral orifice, rotate and wipe the urethral orifice and glans from the urethra outward and backward, and pause for one minute when disinfecting the urethral orifice, so that the disinfectant can fully contact with the mucosa of the urethral orifice to achieve the purpose of disinfection.

Insert the catheter, lift the penis to make it form a 60-degree angle with the abdomen, so that the pubic bone leans forward to disappear, clamp the front end of the catheter with tweezers, aim at the urethral orifice, gently insert the catheter into the vagina for 20-20-22cm, and then insert it for 5-7 cm after urination. When the intubation is blocked, stop for a minute, let the patient take a deep breath and then insert the catheter slowly, gently, so as not to damage the urethral mucosa.

Precautions:

Medically, a catheter is inserted into the bladder to drain urine. Catheter can be divided into indwelling catheter and intermittent catheter. The previous catheter has been left in the patient's body. If conditions permit, the catheter should be removed as soon as possible and replaced regularly. The latter underwent catheterization every 4-6 hours, and the catheter was removed after bladder emptying.

Preliminary disinfection of vulva: instruct and assist patients to clean vulva, wear gloves or finger covers on their left hand, clamp sterilized cotton balls with blood vessels in their right hand, disinfect vulva and labia majora in turn, and then separate labia majora from their left hand to disinfect labia minora, urethral orifice and dirty cotton balls. The yarns should be arranged in an arc-shaped plate.
