As early as the1940s, Mr. Qi Gong's works had been refined, but at that time, painting was still the main work. In the late 1970s, Mr. Qi Gong's calligraphy works were sold in Rong Baozhai and other painting shops, which mainly meant the demand of painting shops.
There is a special envelope for "Rong Baozhai", which you can see now. It was1968+a kind of money given to Mr. Qi Gong in the early 1990s. On the envelope was written a list: Mr. Qi Gong spent 6,000 yuan in Chinese characters and Mr. Qi Gong got 3,000 yuan. 730 yuan actually paid 2270 yuan after tax deduction.
After Mr. Qi Gong died in 2005, the price of calligraphy started from less than 10000 yuan/square foot, and reached 150000 yuan/square foot in less than five years.
