Two Song Dynasties: Thoughts after reading

Last month, I accidentally saw Yuan Tengfei explaining the first episode of "Two Song Dynasties" at Baijia Forum. I was very interested in it, so I listened with great interest. But in the next few days, I missed the last few episodes of "The Storm of the Two Song Dynasties" because I didn't have time. I was very sad.

On Sunday of the same week, our family went shopping at Pang Dong Lai Times Square. As soon as I arrived at Times Square, I went straight to the underground library on the first floor. The dazzling array of books in the library immediately dazzled me, and I didn’t know which one to buy. I turned left and right, but still couldn't find the book I liked. Suddenly, my eyes stopped on a book with a familiar name, "The Forum of Hundreds of Schools: The Wind and Cloud of the Two Song Dynasties"! I was ecstatic and thought: The vacancy can finally be filled in! Therefore, I immediately told my mother that I wanted to buy this book.

My mother was also very happy that I liked reading these history or knowledge books, so she readily agreed.

When I got home, I couldn't wait to untie the plastic bag, open the book, and read it hungrily. I read with great enthusiasm, reading two chapters in an hour, and from time to time I read the most interesting parts to my family. Slowly, our whole family started to read "The Storm of Two Song Dynasties".

This book is very thick, with thirty chapters, each with a different title. So my brother and I competed to see who could read quickly and accurately. Therefore, whenever I have free time, I pick up the book "The Storm of the Two Song Dynasties" and read it. So far, I have read more than a dozen chapters.

The book mainly describes vivid historical plots and stories during the Northern Song Dynasty and Southern Song Dynasty. I watched with ecstasy. Stories such as "The Jin Army went south", "Miao Liu Mutiny", "Zhao Gou ascended the throne" and other stories all attracted me.

The first chapter describes Song Huizong of the Northern Song Dynasty, which gave me the deepest understanding of Song Huizong. And I am also very interested in the legendary birth story of Song Huizong's "The Reincarnation of Li Yu, the Empress of the Southern Tang Dynasty".

I learned a lot from this book. For example, the four great calligraphers of the Northern Song Dynasty: Su Shi, Huang Tingjian, Mi Fu and Cai Jing. And I learned that the three prime ministers who were highly used during the reign of Emperor Huizong of the Song Dynasty: Cai Jing, Wang Fu (fǔ) and Li Bangyan were all written in the "Biography of Traitors" in history books. They were closely related to the demise of the Northern Song Dynasty. In the Southern Song Dynasty, Emperor Qinzong of the Southern Song Dynasty, Kang Wang Zhaogou, kept running away southward because of the Jin army's march south, and even earned the reputation of the "escape emperor"...

This book not only increased my historical knowledge, but also cultivated my knowledge. It improved my sentiment and allowed me to understand knowledge that I didn’t know before. I will read more extracurricular books in the future to broaden my knowledge.
