How to adjust the tilt angle of the new sagitar front wheel

The concept of four-wheel alignment existed before the appearance of automobiles. The speed of the carriage is very close to that of the early cars, and a complete suspension system is adopted, so it is necessary to fine-tune the position of the front and rear axles regularly. In the early years, there were few private cars and cars in China, and now there are no 4S shops and repair shops open to the outside world, so it is difficult for ordinary people to see the four-wheel positioning of cars.

Due to the design of the engine, gearbox and chassis, the four wheels of the car bear different weights. BMW's inline engine should be tilted at a certain angle, mainly for better weight distribution. In order to ensure the normal running and turning of the vehicle, the relative position of each wheel is different.

Early automobile four-wheel alignment needs to be measured by special wheel clamps, gauges and dial indicators. Although this kind of four-wheel positioning equipment is simple, it is very accurate and effective. So far, F 1 cars still use this primitive method to adjust the four-wheel alignment.

How to do a good job of automobile four-wheel positioning;

Some terms such as caster angle, toe-in, propulsion angle, etc. Will appear during four-wheel alignment. Caster angle refers to the angle formed by caster angle of steering kingpin and vertical line of front wheel. The larger this angle is, the longer the wheelbase will be, and the higher the stability will be when driving in a straight line, but the steering will become dull. The inclination angle of the kingpin refers to the vertical angle formed between the kingpin and the wheel after the kingpin inclines inward. The greater the angle, the greater the driving force encountered when the front wheel turns, which is more conducive to the positioning of the wheel, but it will make the steering allergic.

Inclination refers to the angle between the wheel and the ground when viewed from the front of the car. When the inclination angle is positive, the wheel will form external characters, and when the inclination angle is negative, the wheel will form internal characters. At present, in order to improve the handling stability of most models, the front wheels will adopt zero inclination or negative inclination. If the front wheel is abnormally inclined, it will not only affect the handling stability, but also lead to tire wear. The rear wheel of some models can also adjust the inclination angle. Abnormal inclination angle of the rear wheel will lead to obvious understeer or reduce the stability of straight driving.

Toe refers to the angle between the wheel and the forward direction when viewed from above the vehicle. The outer toe-in is too positive and the inner toe-in is too negative. Under normal circumstances, the toe-in of the front and rear wheels should be kept at zero, and the negative value of the toe-in of the front wheel should be increased accordingly to make the steering more flexible. Increasing the negative value of the rear wheel toe-in can improve the stability when driving in a straight line, so the rear wheel toe-in of most cars is zero or a little negative.

In automobile four-wheel alignment, the difficulty is the propulsion angle. Simply put, it is the angle between the front and rear wheels on one side and the center line of the vehicle, which is also called lateral deflection angle.

If the propulsion angle is too large, a rear wheel will have obvious eccentric wear. If it is a semi-independent and dependent rear suspension, the toe-in and inclination angle of the rear wheel cannot be adjusted, indicating that the suspension system has been damaged and deformed; If it is an independent suspension, the rear wheel alignment needs to be adjusted accordingly.
