Mosquitoes take off by the lift of the air and change direction by the control of their left and right wings. Lift must overcome gravity and thrust must overcome air resistance to fly. The key for mosquitoes to generate lift is the convex shape of the cross section on their wings. The air flowing above is faster than that flowing below, and the air pressure is lower than that below. The higher air pressure below will support mosquitoes to float in the air.
