The Erwang Temple is a temple commemorating Li Bing and Erlang, the builders of Dujiangyan and the governor of Qin Shu County. It is located on the slope of Yulei Mountain on the east bank of the Minjiang River in Bujiangyan. It was built in the Northern and Southern Dynasties to commemorate Du Yu, king of Shu. It was originally named Chongde Temple. After the dynasty, Li Bing and his son were successively named kings, so later generations called it the "Two Kings Temple".
The Erwang Temple has been built and destroyed several times, and the existing temples were mainly rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty. The essence of the temple is the various stone inscriptions. On the stone walls are engraved the water control scriptures of Li Bing and subsequent dynasties: "It is difficult to find out deeply", "Low weir"; The Three-Character Classic, Six-Character Jue, and Eight-Character Jue for water control. In recent years, new statues of Li Bing and Li Erlang have been built, either sitting or standing. They have different shapes and are respectively provided in the main hall and the apse.
In addition, on the right side of the apse are the authentic works of painters Xu Beihong, Zhang Daqian, Guan Shanyue, etc., as well as the inscriptions of Tianma, Jade Girl, and Huangliang Meng painted during the Republic of China. They are all very precious art treasures. In 1987, statues of Zhuge Liang and other previous dynasties were added to the right side of the main hall. Erwang TempleThe overall building is close to the mountains and rivers, and the structure is well-proportioned. When you look up close, you can see the red eaves and flying arches, and when you look at it, it is dominating the riverside. It is very impressive. Walking into the temple, you are surrounded by towering ancient trees and shade from the sun, making you feel cool and cool. It is a good place to visit in summer.
