In the year of Shunzhi 14, that is, 1657 10, a lecturer reported that there was a serious fraud in Xiang Tao just after Shuntianfu, and a juren even bribed the examiner to find someone else to take the exam. Even we all know that he is a good emperor. When the emperor shunzhi reported him, he was very angry, and the result of the value survey was true. This made Shunzhi very angry, and it was a serious act of graft for officials to buy and sell literary works.
Then even seven people involved in the fraud were beheaded, their property was confiscated and their parents, brothers and wives were exiled. In the first month of Shunzhi 15, Jinshi entered the examination room one after another. As a result, 8 people failed in English ethics, 25 citizens were exiled and relevant officials were dealt with. Wang Yongji evaded danger and punished himself. Shunzhi gave him five points. In the same year, there was a fraud case in the examination room similar to that in Henan, and finally the examiner was exiled to Shangyangbao.
In March of the following year, Shunzhi presided over the rural examination in Jiangnan, beheaded two examiners, hanged 17 examiners, and exiled eight cheaters to Ningguta. Some of the exiles are really talented and knowledgeable, but the background of cheating in Chinese and English examination rooms is rarely forgiven for a lifetime! Until Kangxi went to the northeast, the families of those exiled scholars were not pardoned, and only a few people were allowed to bury the bones of the deceased who died in Rongchu in their hometown.
