Hukou acupoint is located at the junction of the back of hand, thumb and forefinger. In traditional Chinese medicine, Hukou point is the location of Hegu point, which has a wide range of functions and is called universal point in traditional Chinese medicine. Pressing Hukou point for patients with acute headache, toothache, trigeminal neuralgia and sore throat can relieve pain urgently.
When pressing, press Hegu point with the thumb tip of the other hand, which is at the midpoint of the dorsal radial edge of the second metacarpal bone. When pressing, apply force to the metacarpal bone to make it feel sore locally, and press for 3-5 minutes each time. Hegu point, Neiguan point and Zusanli point are three commonly used acupuncture points for health care.
