How to disinfect an alginate mixing bowl

1. First, you need to clean the residue in the mixing bowl. During the impression taking process, some impression material and patient's saliva and other contaminants may remain in the bowl. Use tools such as an old toothbrush or scraper to remove the residue completely.

2. Then, place the mixing bowl into a container containing disinfectant. Commonly used disinfectants include bleaching powder, hydrogen peroxide, etc. Make sure the mixing bowl is completely immersed in the disinfectant solution for effective disinfection.

3. The soaking time needs to be determined according to the specific disinfectant instructions. Generally speaking, the longer the soaking time, the better the disinfection effect. However, soaking for too long may cause damage to the mixing bowl. Therefore, during the soaking process, you need to pay attention to the material and color of the mixing bowl at all times to ensure that it is not damaged during the disinfection process.

4. After soaking, rinse the mixing bowl with running water. Make sure the bowl is free of any residual disinfectant and dirt.

5. Place the cleaned mixing bowl on a clean gauze, and wipe dry the surface moisture with a clean instrument.

6. Finally, put the dried mixing bowl into a high-pressure sterilizer for high-temperature and high-pressure sterilization.
