Xiao He. Liu Bang was the then prime minister of Hanwang and a native of Peifeng (now northwest of Xuzhou, Jiangsu). At that time, Xiao He recommended to Hanwang Liu Bang and worshipped Han Xin as a general; Later, he offered advice to Lv Hou, the wife of Hanwang, and killed Han Xin.
According to Zi Zhi Tong Jian, in 26 BC, Liu Bang led his troops to Nanzheng (now Hantai District, Hanzhong City) to serve as Hanwang. Han Xin, who was frustrated under Xiang Yu's command, left Chu Ying and came to Hanwang Army, and Liu Bang only appointed Han Xin as an envoy to manage Liangmo. Han Xin told Prime Minister Xiao He several times about his newspaper negative, and if Hanwang didn't reuse him, he would leave. After Liu Bang arrived in Nanzheng, Han Xin really left Han, and Xiao He hurried to catch up. This is the story of "Xiao He Chasing Han Xin under the Moon" which was interpreted and put on the stage. After Xiao He recovered Han Xin, he strongly recommended to Hanwang and said that if you want to farmland, Han Xin can't take the post. Liu Bang, who didn't understand Han Xin's talents, was finally influenced by Xiao He's bitter recommendation, fasted for seven days, set up an altar, and made nine guests worship Han Xin as the general. Later, Han Xin, a brilliant man, repeatedly made outstanding achievements and won the world for Liu Bang. In the Ming Dynasty, Yang Shouzheng wrote in the poem "Worship the Altar": "Going to the altar is not recommended by Xiao He, so why is it strange for the emperor?" The above is a history of Han Xin's success in Xiao He.
According to Records of the Historical Records of Empress Lu, "Lv Hou was resolute, helped Gaozu to rule the world, and most of the ministers were Lv Hou". In 196 BC, it was reported to Lv Hou that Han Xin had planned to rebel against Hanwang. Lv Hou wanted to summon Han Xin, fearing that he would not submit, so he plotted with Prime Minister Xiao He. Xiao He offered a plan to Lv Hou, and he could make Han Xin give in easily. Xiao He came to Han Xin Palace and lied that Hanwang had quelled's rebellion in Handan and returned to Beijing. His ministers all went to the palace to congratulate him and asked Han Xin to go to the palace. Han Xin was sick at that time, and Xiao He dragged Han Xin into the palace. "Believe in people, Lv Hou made the samurai bind the letter and cut the Changle bell room" ("Historical Records, Biography of Huaiyin Hou"). This is a record of Han Xin's bad deeds in Xiao He.
In the Song Dynasty, Hong Mai's "The Continuation of Rong Zhai" said: "The letter is a general, and it was actually recommended by Xiao He; Today, his death is also out of his plan. Therefore, there is a slang saying that "success is also Xiao He, and failure is also me". Later generations sighed with a poem: "Who knows the national conditions repeatedly, and it is difficult to eliminate the clock room hatred through the ages." It's really hard to understand Premier Xiao's reneging behavior, and people all regret that Han Xin was killed in the bell room by Lv Hou. This is the origin of the allusion "Success is Xiao He, Failure is Xiao He". Now, this idiom means that the success or failure of a thing is caused by the same person. It is also a metaphor for reneging and capricious.
