1 Reason: Postpartum paralysis of sows is a disease in which sows are physically weak after delivery, unable to stand on their limbs after delivery, and their consciousness drops, also known as postpartum wind. It is a common and frequently-occurring disease of sows. The main reason is that calcium and phosphorus in the diet during pregnancy are insufficient or out of proportion; Long-term feeding corn, grain and other concentrate, inorganic phosphorus can not be supplemented; In addition, the cold climate in early spring, cold and damp barn, insufficient sunshine, lack of exercise for sows, excessive production intensity and other factors will lead to postpartum endocrine disorders of sows, which will suddenly reduce blood sugar and calcium, and then lead to hind limbs or general weakness and cause this disease. Severe paralysis.
2 Clinical symptoms
Postpartum mood of sow is low, appetite is decreased, lactation is reduced, heartbeat is accelerated, standing is unstable, hind legs are weak and vacillating. Later, he could not stand, often lay on his side, his head tilted downward, his hind legs were splayed apart, and eventually he was paralyzed. Muscle atrophy over time, sometimes bedsore.
3 Preventive measures
Usually, shell powder, eggshell powder and calcium carbonate should be supplemented in the diet of pigs; Sows should be supplemented with bone meal, fish meal and miscellaneous bone soup in the late pregnancy and lactation period, and high-quality hay powder, leguminous forage (alfalfa) and green feed should be supplemented in winter and spring rainy season; The pigsty should be kept clean and dry; After the sow gives birth, the pigsty should be padded with more grass; Prevent the cold wind from blowing, keep the pigsty warm and spacious, and have plenty of sunshine; Sows should spend more time in the sun during pregnancy, exercise in the sun for 2 to 3 hours every day, feed digestible feed rich in protein, minerals and vitamins, and the ratio of calcium to phosphorus should be appropriate; For sows with a history of postpartum paralysis, intravenous injection of 10% calcium gluconate 100 ml was given once a week 20 days before delivery to prevent the occurrence of this disease.
Four treatment methods
① intravenous injection 10% calcium gluconate 50 ~ 150ml or 20% calcium gluconate 150ml or 10% calcium chloride solution 20 ~ 50ml and intramuscular injection of vitamin d colloidal calcium 2 ~ 4 ml once a day or every other day/kl.
Or 5 ~ 10 ml of ammonium vitamin butyrate injection, and then inject it again every 3 days.
② In order to relieve constipation, 40g sodium sulfate or magnesium sulfate can be taken orally at one time.
③ If there is severe hypophosphatemia, it must be treated with phosphorus agent: intravenous injection of 20% sodium dihydrogen phosphate 100 ~ 150 ml, once a day, for 3 days. At the same time, with 250 ml of 5% glucose physiological saline, the effect is better.
④ If you are weak and your blood sugar is low, mix 400 ml 10% glucose injection with 20 ml 10% calcium chloride for intravenous injection.
⑤ Add bone meal to the feed, 30 ~ 50g or 3 ~ 6g of calcium superphosphate per pig every day, and feed continuously 10 ~ 15 days.
⑥ Air supply method for breast: sterilize nipple and breast guide needle, pump air into breast with 100 ml syringe, and stop air supply when breast bulges slightly. The purpose is to reduce the amount of milk, thus slowing down the loss of calcium in the blood.
⑦ Chinese medicine therapy: Oral "Compound keel soup". Prescription: 300g of Os Draconis, 50g of Radix Angelicae Sinensis, 50g of Radix Rehmanniae, 5g of Carthamus tinctorius15g, and 400g of malt, decocted in water twice, and taken twice in the morning and evening, with a total of 3 doses, with remarkable curative effect. Or take 25g of Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Radix Saposhnikoviae, Lumbricus, Zaocys, 20g of Carthami Flos, Eupolyphaga Seu Steleophaga, 65,438+02g of Myrrha, 65,438+05g of Sanguis Draxonis, and yellow wine as a guide, and take it with warm water once.
8 In order to prevent bedsores, grass or coarse cloth can be used to rub the skin of sick pigs. Or apply irritants such as camphor liquid on the back of the hindquarters to promote blood circulation. At the same time, add soft mattress grass and often turn over sick pigs. For the sick sow with bedsore after paralysis, it is necessary to disinfect and debride the affected area in time and treat it with penicillin and other antibacterial and anti-inflammatory drugs, so the curative effect is quick and good, and it can be cured in just a few days.
