1. Cultivation of the mind in confusion
Return to nature and cultivate your mind.
There is a quote from Liu Xiang's "Warring States Policy" of the Western Han Dynasty, "If you return to your true nature and rebel against your innocence, you will live your whole life without disgrace."
People's original nature is simple and innocent. But as we grow older, thoughts and desires continue to arise, obscuring our original nature.
To return the mind and life to a state of simplicity and innocence. This is the saying "only if you don't forget your original intention, you will always succeed."
If the original intention is lost, we will become more and more confused, leading to more and more losses, and ultimately nothing will be gained.
2. Perseverance in despair
Persistence is the most important thing when a drop of water wears away a stone.
"Taishan slips through the stone, and the single pole breaks the stem. Water is not the drill of the stone, nor is it the saw of the wood. Gradual decline makes it happen." The words are from "Hanshu Meisheng Biography" .
Only by persevering and working hard can you achieve success.
Only by drilling into wood can there be fire, and by dripping water can pierce through stone. Only persistence is the mantra for success. As long as you find the right path, you will not be afraid of hardships and dangers, and if you keep moving forward, success will be just around the corner!
3. Stay calm in panic
Be wary of arrogance and impetuosity, and treat others as equals.
Confucius said: "A gentleman is peaceful but not arrogant, and a villain is arrogant but not peaceful."
Laozi said: "Be careful at the end as you began at the beginning, and you will never fail."
Mao Zedong said: "Beware of arrogance and impetuosity, and always maintain a humble and enterprising spirit."
Be wary of pride and impatience, be open-minded, and be proactive.
Meditation is the most valuable thing in this impatient society. People who can calm down can often gain more in the end. Humility and pragmatism are also the most lacking atmosphere in this society. Instead, eagerness for quick success has become the mainstream.
So how can we guard against arrogance and impetuosity? This requires us to slow down appropriately at certain times and try to listen to our inner voice.
4. The Great Way leads to simplicity, eliminating the rough and extracting the essence.
From Laozi's "Tao Te Ching": "The beginning of all things, the Great Way leads to simplicity, and evolves to multiplication."
The truth is often extremely simple. Simplicity does not mean poverty, but the awakening after prosperity, the state of eliminating complexity and simplifying it.
Too much complexity will make people lose their way. The truth is often like a wheel, which is always connected by teeth and pinions.
After thinking about it, I come back to the starting point, and truth is like the center of the wheel. Only the center is the foundation. Without the center point, nothing else will be true.
5. The superior good is like water, and there is no struggle with the inferior ones.
A quote from "Laozi": "The superior good is like water. Water is good for all things and does not compete with it. It is where everyone hates it, so it is close to the Tao."
p>
Water is the best and softest; it is continuous and dense, making no sound when it is small, and turbulent when it is huge; it does not compete with others but can accommodate all things.
There is no better way to live than this.
When getting along with others, you should be tolerant. It is not good to be too rigid or too harsh.
6. Great wisdom is like foolishness, don't rely on cleverness
A quote from the Song Dynasty, Su Shi's "Congratulations to Master Ouyang on his Official Beginning": "Great courage is like timidity, great wisdom is like foolishness."
The intelligence is very high but not sharp, "as clever as clumsy", as stupid as it is, and has entered the realm of understanding. It has the same meaning as Lao Tzu's "big sound sounds loud, but elephant is invisible".
There are often two extremes of taciturn people. One is that they really don’t understand anything, and the other is those who understand everything in their hearts but don’t like to “show” it. Both of these two types of people will be understood by everyone once they speak.
People who don’t know anything will reveal their ignorance when they speak, while people who don’t like to show off speak the truth every time they speak.
7. Indifference clears one’s ambitions, and tranquility reaches far
This first comes from "Huainanzi? Master of Skills" written by Liu An of the Western Han Dynasty; Zhuge Liang's "Chengzi Shu" also quotes: "There is no need to be indifferent." If you have a clear ambition, you will not be able to reach far without tranquility."
If you are not clear-minded and have few desires, you will not be able to make your aspirations clear and firm. If you are not quiet and peaceful, you will not be able to study hard for a long time to realize your ideals.
It is difficult for the learning process to be fun and relaxing. A relaxing learning process must be slow.
Calm down, find fun in boredom to learn, and finally strengthen your ambitions and achieve your dreams.
8. Extensive knowledge and appropriation will lead to a lot of accumulation.
Su Shichang said in "The Harvest Tax Sending to Zhang Hu": "Extensive knowledge and apprehension will lead to appreciation and accumulation. I will stop here." ".
Read extensively and use it simply and prudently. After a long period of accumulation, you will definitely make a difference.
Reading is not about what we remember or what we can write, but it is about how the principles in the book can influence us in a subtle way.
The more you read, the more you will naturally have your own insights. This insight is the essence of the books you read. Quantitative changes lead to qualitative changes, which will eventually break out at a certain moment and become a real person. A "learned" person.
9. The sea is open to all rivers, inclusive and contained
A quote from the "Preface to the Famous Officials of the Three Kingdoms": "The shape and implements are not there, but the sea is open to all."
Li Zhouhan Note: "A small heart is like an ocean that can accommodate hundreds of rivers, and it contains a wide area."
A sea that accommodates hundreds of rivers means it is big. Being open-minded and broad-minded are important qualities for a person.
There is no better person than one who has heaven and earth in his heart and poetry in his belly.
