Gaoyou is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province, which is managed by Yangzhou City. Located in the middle of Jiangsu Province, on the west edge of Lixia River. Xinghua city in the east, Jiangdu District, Hanjiang District and Yizheng City in the south, Tianchang City and Jinhu County in the west and Baoying County in the north, with a total area of 1.963 square kilometers. Gaoyou is the only county and city named after "post" in China. There are more than 7,000 years of civilization history and 2244 years of city building history (up to 202 1). Known as Jiangzuo Famous District and Guangling Shouyi in history, it is the hometown of Yao Emperor and the birthplace of Yao culture, and an important area of Jianghuai civilization and postal culture. Han, the northern part of Guangling County belongs to gaoyou county.
Famous scenic spot
Gaoyou Town National Temple Tower was built in 874. Also known as the West Tower, it is known as the "Southern Wild Goose Pagoda". It is a square seven-story pavilion-style brick tower with a height of 35.36 meters. The tower top brake is a bronze cast gourd, and the words "Good weather, peaceful country and people" are engraved on the surface of the gourd. The tower is made of blue bricks, 25 meters high and square. The top of the tower is a quadrangular pyramid, with a two-meter-high gourd-shaped copper spire erected at the top, a north-south arch at the bottom, tower doors on the second to seventh floors, and small shrines on both sides.
Gaoyou Pawnshop, located on the west side of Renmin Road outside the north gate of Gaoyou City, opened in the middle of Qing Dynasty. It is a well-preserved and large-scale ancient pawnshop found in China.
