The UK’s immigration policy for studying abroad has changed with changes in different forms at different times. Now the good news is here. From October 1, 2013, the UK’s new immigration policy has officially come into effect; the new regulations apply to skilled visas, Temporary work visas have relaxed admission requirements to varying degrees; at the same time, a new graduate entrepreneur visa has also been added. Let’s take a closer look at the new British immigration policy.
There is no limit to the number of skilled work visas
For students studying in the UK, being able to stay and work in the UK is their dream. Starting this year, fresh graduates who have obtained a bachelor's degree or above or a teacher education diploma awarded by a British accredited institution can apply for a skilled work visa. This type of visa stipulates: As long as the applicant obtains an employment notice from a sponsor agency recognized by the British Border Management Agency before the expiration of the visa, engages in skilled work and reaches the stipulated minimum annual salary of 20,000 pounds per year, the British government will approve it. The applicant has worked in the UK for three years and has also been extended. The previous requirement was an annual salary of 28,000 pounds, but the new regulations directly reduced it to 8,000 pounds. The number of applicants for this type of visa has been changed from the previous specified number to the current unlimited number.
Temporary visa allows internships in the UK
Although the technical work visa lowers the requirements, not every international student studying in the UK can find a job before graduation. For this group of students, they can apply for a temporary work visa established by the British government.
It is understood that the application conditions for a temporary work visa are: graduates can apply for a temporary work visa, but they must first leave the UK and apply for such a visa overseas. At the same time, applicants must also prove that they have work experience in China or provide a detailed career plan.
But if the applicant is engaged in postgraduate training or degree-related work, in this case, he can choose to transfer to the "Temporary Government License Exchange Category" visa in the UK. Applicants for temporary work visas must obtain an employment offer from a sponsor agency recognized by the UK Border Agency and pass a point-based assessment. In the past, temporary work visas generally did not allow international students to intern in the UK, but could only study in the UK.
Studying abroad can apply for an entrepreneur visa
For Chinese international students starting a business in the UK, the British government has specially added a new graduate entrepreneur visa for this type of international students.
This visa category is designed for students who wish to develop entrepreneurial skills and start a business in the UK. Applicants can apply as long as they have obtained a bachelor's degree from a British higher education institution under the visa program and are sponsored by the institution. First-time applicants can obtain a 12-month visa. If the sponsoring agency is willing to continue to sponsor, the applicant's visa will be extended for 12 months.
Considering that the graduate entrepreneur visa does not last long, the British government stipulates that applicants holding a one-year graduate entrepreneur visa can submit the relevant information required by the Immigration Bureau. Upgrade your visa to a skilled work visa with a three-year validity period. Not only that, once upgraded to a skilled work visa, entrepreneurs can extend the visa indefinitely in units of three years.
