The original text can be summarized as "two are not tired, three are moderate, and ten don't eat". Fasting food can't be like ordinary diet, and the materials and processing should be particularly clean and exquisite. People who take part in fasting should leave their homes and stay in the fasting room. Now, the rice used for sacrifice should be cooked as whole as possible, and the rice should be cut as finely as possible. The rice is hot and wet, and even smells bad. The fish is old and the meat is rotten, so it can't be eaten. You can't eat if the color is different, you can't eat if the smell is abnormal, and you shouldn't eat if the food is cooked raw or overcooked. You can't eat unless you eat normally. Animals such as sheep and pigs should not be eaten if they are cut in a way that does not conform to the ceremony or distributed in a way that does not conform to the dignity status; Don't eat without proper sauce; Although there is a lot of meat, you can't eat too much, or eat mainly; Wine can not be classified as limited, but we should also grasp the principle of not being rude; Only the wine that has been brewed overnight, the wine and dried meat sold in the market are inedible (afraid of being impure); Although ginger is a spicy food, it can be eaten when fasting, but it is not advisable to eat more; Pay attention to the meat shared by helpers in class that day; Sacrifice meat for no more than three days, and you can't eat it after three days.
Confucius' eight-character proposition was based on the general principles of sacrifice at that time, so it can only be understood from his opinions on food requirements and dietary rules of sacrifice. Confucius advocated that the sacrificial food should be "clean" and "beautiful" (depending on the conditions of the worshipper), and the sacrificial heart should be "sincere". Only with cleanliness and sincerity can we satisfy the word "respect".
The word "fine" and "fine" can only be correctly understood if it is placed in the productivity level and living conditions of Confucius' era. "The essence is good." Confucius advocated "refinement" because ordinary people often eat rough and polished millet, and advocated using rice better than polished rice for sacrifice. "Fat" is eaten after cutting meat. In order to remove the fishy smell of raw meat as much as possible, raw meat must be cut thinner and thinner to be more delicious and easier to chew and digest.
Confucius' exposition embodies his complete thought, that is, adhering to the dietary rules of sacrifice to show respect, caution and hygiene, as well as civilized and scientific dietary principles.
