As for some questions about taking refuge in the Three Jewels, please give me some advice from the masters!

Answer 1:

When you still don’t know which Buddha or Bodhisattva is enshrined in the temple hall, you can sincerely recite Namo Amitabha and kowtow in silence. If you have free time in your life, You can read some basic Buddhist books to gradually learn and understand Buddhism in depth, such as "Jue Hai Ci Hang" (book), "Buddhist Ritual" (with books and videos), "Liaofan Four Trainings" (video) , "Buddhist Questions and Answers" (with books and videos)... There are many, you can learn slowly, hard work pays off, the golden city is the result, the gold and stone are the openings, as long as you put your mind to it, you will become a good Buddhist disciple.

Answer 2:

There is no need to recite scriptures, as long as you sincerely recite silently in your heart: Make offerings to the Buddha, make offerings to the Dharma, and make offerings to the Sangha.

Answer 3:

You can eat the three pure meats after taking refuge. What are the three pure meats? It is limited to three situations, and these three kinds of meat are not allowed to be eaten.

First, don’t commit suicide: Don’t kill animals yourself to eat.

Second, don’t teach him to kill: I want to eat meat, but I know I can’t kill it myself, and I can’t teach others to kill it for me to eat.

Third, don’t hear killing: I didn’t kill myself myself, and I didn’t teach others to kill it for me to eat. However, if I heard a chicken being killed next door and the crow of a chicken, I was not allowed to eat the meat.

There is another kind called killing for me. What does killing for me mean? For example, when I go to a friend's house, the friend is very hospitable and buys a live chicken or a chicken raised by myself to kill. This chicken should not have died because of the reason why I came. This chicken is killed for me and dies for me. This is called doing it for me. If I kill you, I won’t be able to eat this meat.

Eating three pure meats means that the meat in the above situations is not edible. It is okay to buy ready-made meat or eat meat for casual meals.

The three refuges of Buddhism are:

Take refuge in the Buddha and never take refuge in heretics and demons in all lives;

Take refuge in the Dharma and never believe in heretics and evil cults in all lifetimes;

< p>Take refuge in the Sangha and never follow the disciples of heretics in every life.

After most people ask a teacher to prove that they have taken refuge, they say they have taken refuge in a certain Dharma master. In fact, the person they take refuge in is the Sangha, not a certain Dharma master. Therefore, for those who take refuge in the Sangha, all monks are my teachers. Regardless of whether they are wise or foolish, they should respect each other as their teachers and call themselves disciples. They should not be arrogant and self-indulgent, and they should not arbitrarily distinguish who is wise and who is stupid. This is what converts should pay attention to first. .

Secondly, people who generally believe in Buddhism and study Buddhism often only have one refuge, but not three refuges. For example, they believe in Buddhism but do not listen to the Dharma and respect the Sangha; Those who worship the Buddha and listen to the Dharma, or even treat the Buddha as a god, just to seek promotion and wealth, blessings and longevity, cannot be regarded as orthodox Buddhists. Buddhist disciples who truly take refuge in the Three Jewels should get close to good teachers, listen to the sutras, and listen to the Dharma. Increase wisdom; pay homage to Buddha and Sangha to cultivate blessings and wisdom.

Those who take refuge in the Three Jewels must not be unaware of the following issues:

First, taking refuge is not a vegetarian diet, or taking a precept, or becoming a monk. Taking refuge in the Three Jewels is just an oath to believe in the Three Jewels for life, and vow not to change again. Belief.

Second, taking refuge in the Three Jewels allows you to respect gods, ancestors, and pagans, but you should know that respect is different from conversion. Respect is politeness, while conversion means fully investing your body, mind, thoughts, and beliefs in the Three Jewels.

Third, taking refuge in the Three Jewels is not a temporary, one-time or one-time refuge. Taking refuge lasts forever. Taking refuge is not only taking refuge in Buddhism, but also taking refuge in the Sangha as a whole. It is not taking refuge in an individual.

After taking refuge, we need to use Buddhism to regulate our body and mind, strengthen our beliefs, change our temperament, turn past greed into joy, turn hatred into compassion, turn laziness into courage and diligence, and turn negativity into courage. Turn pessimism into positivity and optimism, and then seek the five precepts at home, the eight precepts, etc. to enhance your level of faith and plant the seeds of enlightenment.

How to be a Buddhist

After taking refuge in the Three Jewels, how to be a Buddhist? Here are the following things that you should pay attention to:

First, you must have true faith in the Three Jewels: To be a true Buddhist, you must first have deep faith in the Three Jewels. The so-called righteous faith is because we firmly believe that the Three Jewels are real, pure and virtuous, and have the ability to save us. The four unbreakable beliefs of a convert are:

1. Unchangeable faith in the Three Jewels.

2. Observe the precepts and never violate them.

3. Have no doubts about the belief in the Three Dharma Seals.

4. Unwavering faith in the dojo.

Second, we must have a correct view of life: Right view is the key to entering the Tao in life. "The Way to Becoming a Buddha" says: To be a disciple of the Three Jewels, you must:

1. Right view There is good and evil in life.

2. The correct view is that life has its own deeds and rewards.

3. There are sages and ordinary people in life.

4. Rightly understand that life has a previous life and an afterlife.

Third, we must speak with right speech: the so-called right speech is good speech karma, that is, among the ten good deeds, no lying, no double-talk, no harsh words, and no idle talk. As the saying goes: "Disease enters from the mouth, and disaster comes from the mouth." There is a sharp ax hidden in our mouth. If we speak inappropriately, we will not only hurt others, but also ourselves. As a Buddhist, not only should you not hurt others with harsh words, but you should also actively give out loving words, soft words, and joy to others. This will definitely lead to good relationships. As the saying goes, "Before you become a Buddha, you must first form relationships with people." Therefore, right speech is to become a Buddhist. A great cause of Buddha.

Fourth, live a right life: Right life refers to a proper economic life and way of making a living.

For example, opening casinos, restaurants, shops selling fishing gear and shotguns used for killing animals, and slaughterhouses are not right livelihoods. In addition, you should not read fortune-telling, calculate your birth date, or even hold a ji.

A proper economic life means that in addition to daily necessities, part of the money should be allocated for charity to help those in need and to support the cause of Buddhism. This will not only become the net wealth for the prosperity of Buddhism, but also He also cultivates many merits and destinies for himself. However, pure giving must be done under the condition of "not suffering or worrying about yourself" before it can be considered legal.

Finally, I would like to tell those who take refuge in the Three Jewels: "All Buddhist teachings are perfected by the power of good teachers." Therefore, after taking refuge in the Three Jewels, you should always return to your permanent ashram, get close to good teachers, and listen to sutras and Dharma. If you can always recite the Three Jewels, you will naturally have immeasurable blessings and wisdom.

Answer 4:

Those who have not taken refuge can read and recite the Ksitigarbha Sutra.

Answer 5:

If a very serious patient cannot sit up, he can lie on the bed and recite the holy names of Buddha and Bodhisattvas. It would be disrespectful for us normal people. You can sit on the bed, put your hands together and recite the Holy Name silently.

Final question:

This can plant good causes for your puppy to escape from the three realms (the three realms: hell, evil ghosts, and animals) in the future. It will not be harmful to your dog. The Buddha and Bodhisattvas are disrespectful. If you know more about Buddhism in the future, you can also tell it to your dog in your free time. Once it reaches your ears, you will become a Buddha forever.

I am very ashamed. I don’t know if my experience in learning Buddhism can satisfy you. If you are still confused, please forgive me! Amitabha!
