As we all know, Kang Sheng and Guo Moruo are both famous calligraphers in the modern history of China, and they lived in similar times. China has always had the habit of despising literati in ancient times. So who is the better calligrapher, Kang Sheng or Guo Moruo? How does Kang Sheng evaluate Guo Moruo's calligraphy?
Kang Sheng and Guo Moruo
There is a saying circulating on the Internet. It is said that Kang Sheng once wrote a passage about Guo Moruo's calligraphy: "Comrade flounder, I can write better than Guo Moruo if I stand on tiptoe with a stick." It can be seen from this passage that Kang Sheng is very disdainful of Guo Moruo's calligraphy, but it has been confirmed by netizens that it is not true. It is said that a netizen named flounder imitated Kang Sheng's calligraphy, and he mocked two talented people in the party in this way, which was considered entertainment. Moreover, this word is different from Kang Sheng's original word, and anyone who has really studied it can know that it is not Kang Sheng's original word.
From the level of calligraphy, in fact, the two are similar. Kang Sheng's calligraphy is his own, which is called "re-creation", while Lao Guo's calligraphy method is talented, although his skills are still insufficient. Objectively speaking, Kang Sheng's calligraphy level is indeed slightly better, but their environment is different and their position is different. Kang Sheng is mainly engaged in politics, and calligraphy is only a sideline. But now his politics is almost shot down, and he can only achieve calligraphy. Guo Moruo is a writer and calligraphy is also a sideline. Even now, Guo Moruo's influence on China's modern literature cannot be ignored.
Generally speaking, Guo Moruo's calligraphy is indeed a little worse than Kang Sheng's, but Guo Moruo's calligraphy is also better than Kang Sheng's, and there are also places worth learning by future generations.

Mao Zedong and Kang Sheng.
Kang Sheng strongly supported Mao Zedong's proposal and Mao Zedong himself at the political consultative conference of the parties to the Warsaw Pact, which was a necessary measure for Kang Sheng to gain Mao Zedong's trust. After attending this meeting, Kang Sheng has been participating in the decision-making of the central government and all relevant talks with the Soviet Union. He is more and more trusted by Mao Zedong, and his position in the central government has been promoted and consolidated step by step.
At that time, Kang Sheng strongly supported "Left" adventurism. After gaining Mao Zedong's trust, he tried his best to cater to Mao Zedong's "Left" ideological line. He has always wanted to enter the power center. Finally, the Central Committee transferred him from the Central Social Department.
However, Kang Sheng, who left Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, was unwilling. 1966, after Jiang Qing and others launched the Cultural Revolution, Kang Sheng, who thought the opportunity had come, joined the ranks of the Cultural Revolution. Whenever Jiang Qing and others want to dispose of the object, he tries his best to search for the information of the object and arrange it as a traitor or spy, which leads to the loyal minister's suicide. He also used his position to persecute veteran cadres who knew their details. He became a powerful dagger for Jiang Qing and others to launch the "Cultural Revolution" and the principal offender of Jiang Qing's counter-revolutionary group.
