New Year’s greetings;
Jia Festival is called Changchun.
——This is a peach charm couplet by Meng Chang, the king of the Shu Kingdom in the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms. It is also the first Spring Festival couplet recorded in the history of our country. Literally, "Na" means "enjoyment"; " "Yu Qing" used to refer to "the legacy of the ancestors". "Book of Changes" says: "A house that accumulates good deeds must have Yu Qing." The main idea of ??the first line is: Enjoy the legacy of the ancestors in the new year. The main idea of ??the second line is: : The festive season heralds the everlasting spirit of spring. Quanlian contains the meaning of welcoming the New Year and praying for happiness. The word "New Year" is also embedded at the beginning and end of the couplet, and the word "Jiajie" is embedded in the middle. Together, it means "New Year and Jiajie", which is very clever.
One yuan begins again;
Everything is renewed.
——This is a traditional Spring Festival couplet, which is deeply loved by the world, so it is widely used and has great influence. The association means: The new year has begun again, and everything in the world is getting rid of the old and replacing the old with the new, allowing for new life and development. "One Yuan Begins Again" refers to the beginning of a new year. "All phenomena" refers to all things or scenes in the universe. "Update" means removing the old and introducing the new. The couplet is closely related to the people's mentality of saying goodbye to the old and welcoming the new during the Spring Festival. It is concise, clear, meaningful, concise and neat. Therefore, in addition to making Spring Festival couplets alone, people often use them as the basic phrases of Spring Festival couplets to form longer New Year couplets, such as "The spring is good when one yuan returns; everything is renewed and joyful." "The door is full of auspiciousness, and the beginning returns after one yuan; The spring breeze blows, everything is renewed."
People ascend to the realm of longevity;
The world reaches the spring platform.
——This is also a traditional Spring Festival couplet. Spring is the first year of the year. According to Chinese folk custom, no matter what month you are born, most people calculate based on "one year later, one year older", and health and longevity are almost everyone's wish. This couplet expresses this blessing. "Longevity Domain" refers to peace and prosperity where everyone can live to the end of his life. "Chun Terrace" is a scenic place to climb and enjoy the scenery in spring. Often used as a symbol of peace and prosperity. The couplet not only refers to the Spring Festival, but also contains blessings. It is simple but profound.
The sound of firecrackers clears away the old;
Every household is renewed.
——This is a traditional Spring Festival couplet. This couplet comes from Wang Anshi's poem "Yuan Ri": "With the sound of firecrackers, the new year is eliminated, and the spring breeze brings warmth into Tusu. Thousands of households always replace old talismans with new peaches." Firecrackers and peach charms were used by ancient people during the Spring Festival. A prop used to drive away evil spirits. Nowadays, firecrackers are set off during the Spring Festival. In the past, when gunpowder was not invented and there were no firecrackers, bamboos were burned with fire to make them peel off and make sounds to drive away mountain ghosts and plague gods. This was called "firecrackers". "Peach charms" are also an ancient folk custom. Pictures of gods are painted on peach boards and hung next to the door to drive away ghosts and ward off evil spirits. They must be replaced every Spring Festival. Approximately from the Tang and Five Dynasties, words expressing auspiciousness and blessings (i.e. Spring Festival couplets) began to be written on red paper, but the Spring Festival couplets were called "Taofu" until the Qing Dynasty. Writing Spring Festival couplets to welcome the Spring Festival has become a custom for almost all Chinese people. It has been in existence for a long time, but the content is often updated with the changes of the times. This couplet selects two of the most representative typical items in traditional folk customs during the Spring Festival - firecrackers and peach charms. The words are composed of sentences, with sound (the sound of firecrackers) and color (the red of peach charms). The image is vivid, the description is vivid, and it is very accurate. It expresses the purpose of "removing the old and welcoming the new". Coupled sentences have concise language, complete sounds and colors, and neat dialogues. They have always been loved by people and have been widely circulated.
One yuan, two qi, three yang and tai;
Four sequences, five blessings and six combined springs.
——This is a traditional Spring Festival couplet using numbers and word allusions. "One Yuan" in the first line refers to the beginning of things, here it refers to the beginning of a year. "Two Qi" refers to Yin Qi and Yang Qi. "Three Yang Tai" means three Yang Kai Tai. In "Yi", the tenth month of the lunar calendar is the Kun hexagram, which is the symbol of pure yin; the winter solstice in November is the Fu hexagram, with one Yang born below; the twelfth month is the Lin hexagram, with two Yangs born below; the first month is the Tai hexagram, with three Yang is born below. As winter passes and spring comes, yin disappears and yang grows, showing signs of good fortune. Therefore, in the old days, "Three Yangs Kaitai" or "Three Yangs Jiaotai" were used as the words of praise at the beginning of the year. The second line "Four Sequences" refers to the four seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter. "Five blessings", five kinds of happiness. "Shangshu·Hongfan": "The five blessings are: longevity, wealth, prosperity, health, peace, virtue, and life." Huantan's "New Treatise": "Five blessings: longevity, wealth, and honor." , peace and happiness, and many descendants. "Liuhe" refers to the up, down, front, left, and right directions, and refers to the whole world between heaven and earth. The couplet uses numbers skillfully and allusions appropriately. It is both suitable for the festival and expresses good wishes to everyone in the world.
Plum brings five blessings;
Bamboo brings three blessings.
——The five blessings are longevity, wealth, health, good virtue, and longevity. See "Shang Shu·Hong Fan". Three mores means more blessings, more longevity, and more men. See Zhuangzi Heaven and Earth. The combination of winter objects is intended to welcome spring and pray for blessings. It can not only cite allusions to enrich the meaning, but also use concise words and stable antithesis, so this couplet is widely used.
A breeze on both sleeves will benefit the public;
A righteous spirit will revitalize China.
——The Yuan Dynasty poet Wei Chu's "Poetry to Yang Jihai" has a sentence: "When we meet each other, the temples are as silk as silk, the breeze on the sleeves is a bunch of poems." The "breeze on the sleeves" is used to describe Yang Jihai as an upright official with an empty pocket. Later generations followed it and became an idiomatic expression. This kind of Spring Festival couplets is not available everywhere. Just like clothing, it must be tailored to suit your needs. This link is only suitable for government agencies.
Step forward to welcome the spring, the spring breeze blows on your face;
Look up and see joy, the door is full of joy.
——The poet Li Qingzhao greatly admired the sentence "How deep is the courtyard" in Ouyang Xiu's "Die Lian Hua". He thought that the three "deep" words were used together, and their different uses were particularly wonderful. In this couplet, the words "spring" and "happiness" are also used together, with different parts of speech before and after, which is quite similar to them. It is a combination of "ying" and "seeing", the former is intentional and the latter is unintentional; the former "has me" and the latter "does not have me". The antitheses are neat and the mood is rich. This needle-top couplet is indeed a good pair.
The favorable wind blows far away, and China is full of colors;
The beautiful sun hangs high, and the earth shines.
——"Taiping Yulan" quoted "Compiled Essentials of Emperor Liang Yuan" and said: "Spring is also called birth, fragrant spring, youth, Yangchun, Sanchun, Jiuchun; wind is called Yangfeng, Xuanfeng, Roufeng , Hui Feng; Jing means Mei Jing, He Jing, Shao Jing; Shi means good time, good time; Chen means good time, Jia Chen, Fang Chen; Festival means Fang Jie, Jia Jie, Shao Jie, Shu Jie; Cao means weak grass, Fragrant grass; wood is called flower tree, flower tree, fragrant forest, fragrant tree; forest is called maolin; bird is called Yang bird, seasonal bird, Yang bird, migratory bird, seasonal bird, good bird. "People have a good impression of spring and praise it. The beautiful words and words are in front of it, so it has the above-mentioned titles. In short, whether it is Yangfeng or Huifeng, they actually refer to spring breeze. This couplet also means to praise spring.
The three friends are pine, bamboo, plum and spring breeze;
Peach, plum, apricot and spring breeze are one family.
——This is a widely circulated Spring Festival couplet. The first couplet lists three representative plants in winter, and the second couplet lists three fruit trees that flourish in spring to express farewell to the old and welcome the new. The five characters "pine", "plum", "peach", "li" and "apricot" are all pictographic characters, derived from "wood", and the character "bamboo" is a pictographic character. Generally speaking, they are quite similar. As for the pairing of "Sui Han" and "Spring Breeze", and the pairing of "Three Friends" and "One Family", they are also very neat, and no wonder they are widely popular.
As time goes by, people live longer;
Spring fills the universe with blessings.
——Most Spring Festival couplets are not limited to depicting changes in the landscape, but often carry the function of praying for blessings. This couplet falls into this category. In terms of its widespread circulation, this couplet is probably no less popular than the pairing of "One Yuan Begins Again" and "All Things Are Renewed".
The drizzle is silent, nourishing the beautiful scenery in the garden;
The spring breeze is intentional, turning the trees into exquisite ones.
——The sentence "Sneaking into the night with the wind, moistening things silently" by Du Fu in "Spring Night Happy Rain" in the upper couplet, and the sentence in "Ode to the Willow" by He Zhizhang in the lower couplet "I don't know who cuts the thin leaves, the spring breeze in February is like scissors" sentence. Although the mood is a bit simple, and it is specifically written about spring green, fortunately it can be transformed into a good line from the ancients, and the antithesis is quite solid, so I might as well appreciate it.
The lake is moistened by the rain, and the willow trees are close to thousands of households;
The people are rich and abundant, and the wealth is rolling into the three rivers.
——"The Book of Songs·Xiaoya·Caiwei" says: "In the past I went, and the willows were still there; now that I am thinking, the rain and snow are falling." Yiyi, writing a sign of reluctance to leave. "Wealth is rolling in from the three rivers" or "Wealth is rolling into the four seas" are commonly used by people who want to get rich. One is elegant and the other is vulgar, you might as well pay a little attention to it and appreciate the gains and losses.
Peaches and plums welcome the spring, and boundless scenery comes to heaven and earth;
The mountains and rivers are painted, and thousands of poems are written on the pen.
——In the sentence "The spring scenery of Jinjiang comes to heaven and earth" in Du Fu's Qilu "Climbing the Tower" in the first couplet, the word "lai" is naturally magical. The second couplet is paired with "upper pen end". Although it seems forced and the momentum is greatly weakened, it adds a lot of tenderness. As the saying goes, it is quite wonderful to relax. The lower couplet uses "江山" and the upper couplet uses "peaches and plums". The former is more powerful than the latter, so this couplet appears well-proportioned, with integrated meanings, and the couplets are also stable, making it a good couplet.
Renovate the past and create new things, and the song of billions of Chinese people will prosper;
Advocate for integrity and fight against corruption, and the country will be rejuvenated for thousands of years.
——"Ge" and "Ding" are originally two hexagrams in the Book of Changes. Ge means change, and Ding means tripartite establishment. "Yudian" originally comes from "Shang Shu Yu Gong". Dianfu is one of the five clothes, and here it refers to the land of China. Both are allusions to the Six Classics, so they are relatively appropriate. "Promoting integrity" versus "reforming the old", using "anti-corruption" versus "renovating" are opposites and complementary to each other. Although there are only eight characters, the popularity of the way of heaven is hidden in the middle, which is commendable.
The sound of roosters announcing the dawn and the sound of dawn bells are pleasant to the ear;
It is pleasing to the mind about state affairs, soothing about family affairs, and everything is related to love.
——This couplet is imitated from the famous couplet of Donglin Academy written by Zhao Xiancheng, "The sound of wind, rain, and reading are heard in the ears; family affairs, national affairs, world affairs, everything is concerned about". In comparison, Gu Lian is suitable for scholars, and this couplet is generally applicable; Gu Lian is in a gloomy mood, while this couplet is in a cheerful mood. The wind and rain in the Ming Dynasty are like darkness, but today the country is peaceful and the people are safe, which can be seen here.
