Shaoxing, a land of fish and rice, has many rivers and dense water networks, with rivers, lakes, ponds and confluence. These waters with different shapes and names, such as distant mountains, cottages, green trees, fields, boating and fishing songs, constitute Shaoxing's unique natural scenery. There are more than 5,000 bridges everywhere in Shaoxing, which makes Shaoxing a "bridge town" besides "wine town". Where there is no way to go, there will be stone bridges to help, thus eliminating the regret that pedestrians can't reach.
Some stone bridges in Shaoxing are exquisite in workmanship, simple in materials and gentle as a fairy who wants to fly; Some people are alone, separated by only one feldspar, so they bear the burden of life; Some of these buildings have ingenious ideas and unique structures, and at the same time, they have become important cultural landscapes all over the country from time to time. The eight-character bridge, which is listed as the key cultural relics protection unit in Zhejiang Province, has long been a famous bridge for tourists to explore ancient times because of its long history and unique style.
"The Bridge of Jiatai Huiji" contains "The eight-character bridge is located in the southeast of Fucheng, and the two bridges are oblique, like eight characters, hence the name". It can be seen that as early as the beginning of the thirteenth century, the bridge already existed. Now, this splayed bridge still stands in the east of Shaoxing. Here, at the intersection of three streets and three rivers, the bridge is east-west and crosses a river flowing from south to north at the foot of Huiji Mountain. On the south side of the bridge, there is a small river connecting things with the main river. From the center of the bridge to the east, there are several stone steps, which are rest platforms. Here, the bridge turns sharply, the steps are from north to south, and the south stone steps are at the end, which are slate. From the center of the bridge to the west, the broad and flat stone steps extend all the way to the straight street of the splayed bridge. On the rest platform above the stone steps, there is also a stone step hovering from the south and connected with the main bridge. There is also a hole under the stone steps, which can let the unknown river in the west pass, or let Wu Peng's boat pass. When the river goes deep into the street, people live by the water. At this time, alas, they went ashore and entered the house.
Chen Congzhou, a famous bridge expert in China, once said that the splayed bridge was the earliest "overpass" in China. Indeed, the eight-character bridge is one of the main waterways of the ancient Yuecheng, which is connected by three roads, with water flowing from north to south, Jianhu water in the south and the ancient Hangzhou-Ningbo Canal in the north. The trace of the corner of the stone wall under the bridge worn by the fiber rope is still vivid, which shows the prosperity of the ship in that year. Some experts and scholars often get together, and some research is known as the model of Shaoxing stone bridge; Some help pens spread paper in various colors, which has become a unique landscape of the water town. Shaoxing people also have a soft spot for the splayed bridge. On a sultry summer night, it became an open-air "salon" to cool off the heat. People in twos and threes, sitting on the railing, drinking big bowls of strong tea and chatting about the past and the present, often go home intermittently until the Beidou moves westward and the river cools down. Some shops, road names and even first-level administrative units in the lane also use the word "eight-character bridge" to improve their popularity. Today, the figure-eight bridge has gone to the world. Groups of foreign tourists often rent their feet for boating, or admire the wall under the bridge, or fondle the lotus-shaped sentry box in the railing of the bridge ... This scene is frozen with the disappearance of the flash and begins to travel around the world.
Near the Bazi Bridge, ancient dwellings are well preserved, including Gudong Shuangqiao and Guangning Bridge. The north and south are separated by hundreds of meters, which set each other off and seem to be antique. Every time in late spring, a lot of new green will grow on the bridge, and the opened bridge will become much younger.
