What are the three walls and twenty-eight lodgings in China?
China began to divide constellations from the Zhou Dynasty, called the stars, and later summarized them as three walls and twenty-eight palaces. The three walls are: Wei Zi wall, Taiwei wall and Shi Tian wall; Twenty-eight lodgings are: horn, health, cliff, house, heart, tail, dustpan, well, ghost, willow, star, Zhang, wing, cliff, kui, building, stomach, cliff, tapir, ginseng, bucket, cow, female and so on. Three walls are surrounded by Polaris, and many stars are ancient official names, such as Shang Zai and Lieutenant. Twenty-eight guest houses are places where the moon and the sun pass in the sky. Many stars in it are numbered according to the names of their hosts, such as arcturus I and Antares III. Suzhou Museum in China has a star map of stone carving made by astronomers in Song Dynasty, which is one of the oldest star maps of stone carving in the world.
