At the same time, there are many waves with different heights and lengths in the storm. The wave surface is steep, and there are usually waves or big bubbles near the peak, one after another and changing rapidly. At first glance, there seems to be no rule to follow. However, if wave height, wavelength and period are regarded as random quantities, we can study the motion law of wind waves from a statistical point of view and calculate some characteristic quantities according to wind power, such as the average wave height and average period of some big waves or various waves. These characteristic quantities representing the intensity of wind waves depend on the wind speed, the length of the wind action area (wind zone) or the duration of the wind action time (wind time).
