The correct method of Tai Ji Chuan's footwork

The correct way to take Tai Chi steps is as follows:

1. Stand still, with your hands hanging naturally at your sides or behind your back, and your right foot and toes swinging outward at 45 degrees. Keep your upper body upright, bend your legs (do not squat too much, with your knees not exceeding your toes), move your body center of gravity to your right leg, slowly lift your left leg, and take a step forward. At this time, pay attention to lead your legs with your knees, extend your toes slightly, lean forward, relax your hips, round your crotch and sink your center of gravity.

2. The left foot lands first. After supporting the body, push the right leg to the ground and straighten the right leg. At the same time, the left foot turns to the whole foot to form a left lunge, and the center of gravity falls between the legs. Note that the bending degree of the left leg is still subject to the knee not exceeding the toe.

3. Move the body center of gravity back to the right leg, that is, return to the position before the left lunge. The heel of the left foot points to the ground, the toes are tilted, and the right leg is bent to support the body weight.

4. Swing your left foot outward by 45. Keep the upper body upright, turn left slightly, shift the center of gravity to the left leg, land the left foot with the sole of your foot, slowly lift the right leg and take a step forward (exactly the same as the previous left leg).

5. (Same as point 3 above, except for the right leg. ) The right foot touches the ground with the heel first, and then the left leg propps up the body and then pushes the ground hard, and the left leg is straight. At the same time, the right foot turns to the whole foot and lands to form a right lunge, and the center of gravity falls between the legs.

6. Move the body's center of gravity back to the left leg, that is, the posture before the right lunge. The right heel points to the ground, the toes are tilted, and the left leg squats to support the body weight.

7. Repeat the actions from 2 to 7 above. At the end of this step, if the left leg is in front, retract the right leg forward, otherwise retract the left leg forward.
