After the gate of Henan University was built in 1936, the school motto was written in willow and gold characters and hung on the back of the gate. In the middle and above the forehead were written "Ending with Perfection", on the left and "Mingde" on the right. "New People". Not long after the gate was built, it was hit by the July 7th Incident. After eight years of resistance, it was fortunately not destroyed by the war. In 1953, the school motto on the back of the gate was removed. On the occasion of celebrating the 90th anniversary of the founding of the school in 2002, the gate of Henan University was newly painted, and the school motto "Mingde, New People, Ending with Perfection" was hung again on the inside of the gate. The school motto inscribed by alumnus Zhou Erfu, a famous writer, is engraved on the Lingbi stone donated by the Beijing Alumni Association and stands at the southern end of the central axis leading from the gate to the auditorium. The eight-character school motto is dazzling and thought-provoking, giving students of Heda University great academic and cultural inspiration. As soon as they enter the school, they will feel a sense of lofty historical responsibility to the country and the nation.
