What is otitis media?

Otitis media is an inflammatory disease involving all or part of the middle ear (including eustachian tube, tympanum, sinus and mastoid air cavity). Most of them are nonspecific inflammation, especially in children. It can be divided into two categories: non-suppurative and suppurative. Non-suppurative otitis media includes secretory otitis media and barotrauma otitis media; There is little specific inflammation between acute and chronic suppurative patients, such as tuberculous otitis media. The common otitis media are secretory otitis media, acute suppurative otitis media, cholesteatoma otitis media and barotrauma otitis media. If acute suppurative otitis media is not treated promptly and thoroughly, most of them may turn into chronic otitis media. In addition, if there are chronic rhinitis, chronic sinusitis and chronic tonsillitis, bacteria may repeatedly invade the middle ear cavity, and otitis media may lurk down, leading to chronic otitis media.
