When Yang Guang decided to seize the throne, Queen Xiao fully supported him and acted for the queen, which played a certain role.
After Yang Guang succeeded, Xiao was named empress. Every time she went to the south of the Yangtze River, she would take empress Xiao with her. The emperor refused to listen, which led to continuous uprisings in the end, and Jiangdu would also rebel. Empress Xiao believed that the trend was set, so she did not bother to report to Emperor Sui Yang, mainly because he would not listen even if she told him.
In the 14th year, Jiangdu rebelled and Emperor Sui Yang was killed. Queen Xiao was surrounded and controlled by Yu Wenhuaji, who later brought Queen Xiao into Liaocheng. It was not until later that Dou Jiande broke through Liaocheng and placed Queen Xiao in Wuqiang County. Queen Xiao was 51 years old this year. Yang Guang's cousin was the wife of Turkic Chuluo Khan. Hearing that his sister-in-law had no way out, she asked her husband to invite Queen Xiao to the prairie, and Dou Jiande had no choice but to agree.
After Li Shimin succeeded in the Xuanwu Gate Mutiny, Turkic soldiers took the opportunity to invade. Li Shimin made an alliance with them but felt deeply ashamed. In the fourth year of Zhenguan, Li Shimin sent General Li Jing to destroy the Turks and bring Empress Xiao back. Empress Xiao was 64 years old this year, and Li Shimin was only 28 years old, so there was no possibility of a relationship between them. There is also history that Queen Xiao was very dedicated to Emperor Sui Yang. She returned to Chang'an and lived for more than ten years. She died at the age of 81. In the end, Li Shimin buried Queen Xiao generously.
