Why do modern warships have the word "far" in their names?
In the navies of all countries in the world, the names of warships are usually named after the names of important national places and famous people, but in the Qing navy, the names of warships are different. The names of naval vessels in Qing Dynasty mainly run through the names of ships of the same level or the same kind with one word (that is, the font size), and the names of ships usually take the mighty words, such as Dingyuan, Zhenyuan and Dengyingzhou. It can be seen in the naming of the warships of Beiyang Navy. Yuan font size: Dingyuan, Zhenyuan, Jiyuan, Jingyuan, Laiyuan, Zhiyuan, Jingyuan, Pingyuan, Weiyuan, Town font size: Town Center, Town Edge, Town East, Town East. Therefore, it is named after the word "Guang". Because the Beiyang Navy was taught by the British Navy at the beginning of its establishment, Beiyang warships adopted the traditional Victorian painting, that is, black hull, red and white superstructure below the waterline, yellow mast and chimney. During the Sino-French War and the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895, all beiyang fleet warships were painted with tile-gray wartime paint close to the modern navy, and the improvement of Beiyang Navy was earlier than that of European Navy. In the early maritime era in Europe, the bow was decorated with a statue of the bow that braved the wind and waves. By the end of 19, after steamships gradually ruled the ocean, the custom of this maritime era still remained, and this tradition was also retained on the warships of Beiyang Navy. The stern of the warship was decorated with mighty dragon patterns, which became the characteristic of China warships at that time. (The same is true of the chrysanthemum emblem on the bow of the Japanese navy and the red star on the bow of the former Soviet navy. )
