The origin of "Chao"
The surname Ch?o has two origins: 1. It comes from ancient times Chao family. In ancient times, the Central Plains had dense forests and many wild animals, which often invaded humans. Later, someone invented a wooden house built on a tree. From then on, people did not have to worry about wild beasts when sleeping. So everyone regarded this man as a saint and promoted him as the leader of the tribe. He was known as "Hao Clan", and his descendants were named Chao. When Yao was emperor, there was a hermit named Chao Fu who was a good friend of Xu You, a famous scholar at that time. Yao once wanted to abdicate the throne to his father Chao, but he was rejected by his father. Yao again wanted to abdicate the throne to Xu You, but Xu You refused to accept it and hid at the foot of Jishan Mountain to farm; Yao also asked him to be the governor of Jiujiu, so he ran to Yingshui to wash his ears, saying that he did not want to listen to such words. . At this time, Chao's father happened to lead the cow across the river. He asked Xu You why he was cleaning his ears. Xu You said: "Yao asked me to be the governor of Jiu. Such words dirty my ears, so I have to wash them." . After hearing this, Father Chao sneered and said, "If you live in the mountains and deep valleys and don't interact with the world, who will bother you?" Now you are pretending to be noble, but you are actually trying to gain fame. I am afraid that the water you use to wash my ears will stain my cow's mouth! ?After saying that, he led the cow upstream to drink water. During the reign of Yu the Great, the descendants of the Chao family established the Youchao Kingdom (the area around Chao County in present-day Anhui Province). Through the Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties, they became vassals from generation to generation. During the Spring and Autumn Period, the State of Chu destroyed the State of Chao, and the descendants of the public clan of the State of Chao were named after the original country and were called the surname Chao. 2. The surname is named after the place. After Xia Jie was defeated by Shang Tang, he fled to Nanchao (southwest of today's Chao County, Anhui Province), and later died there. Some of his descendants who stayed in Nanchao were named after the place and were called the Chao family.
Got the surname ancestor
Father Chao. The Chao family originated from Chaohu and is a surname based on the place of origin. Chaohu Lake is located in Anhui Province and has been one of the famous rivers and lakes in my country since ancient times. According to historical records, Chaohu Lake was the seat of the Chao Kingdom during the Yin and Zhou Dynasties, three to four thousand years ago. At the end of the Spring and Autumn Period, the Chao Kingdom was destroyed by the Wu Kingdom. According to the custom at that time, the descendants of the Chao Kingdom took the name of their home country as their surname and took the surname Chao. There is another theory about the origin of the Chao family. In the past, some surname scholars traced the origin of the Chao family back to the Chao family in ancient times. The Youchao family taught people to build trees for nests and settled in them, which contributed to the evolution of the nation. This is recorded in "Han Feizi Wu Ju" and other ancient books. It is recorded in the "Surname Genealogy" that the surname Chao is a descendant of the Chao family, or the descendants of the Chao Kingdom. During the Yao period, there was Chaofu, and during the Xia and Yin Dynasties, there was the Chao Kingdom. According to the records in "A Study of Surnames", the surname Chao is based on Guo, and the famous family comes from Pengcheng. The ancestor of the surname Chao used a tree as a nest and slept on it. He named him Chaofu, and his descendants took the surname Chao. Therefore, the descendants of the Chao family regard Chao's father as the ancestor of the surname Chao.
Migration Distribution (None) The surname Chao is not among the top 100 surnames in both mainland China and Taiwan. In ancient times, one of Emperor Yao's ministers was called Chao Fu, who was the founder of Chinese architecture. Also known as Youchao. The most important feature of traditional Chinese architecture is wooden architecture, which is very different from stone architecture in other countries. In ancient times, Chao Fu taught people to use tree trunks to build houses to protect them from wild animals. Later, this type of building was called a railing house. Because it is built on a tree, it is similar to an eagle building a nest, so its founder is called the Youchao family. When Dayu was king, he made the descendants of the Chao family nobles and allowed them to establish the Chao Kingdom, which is located in the area of ??Chao County in Anhui Province today. The descendants of the duke clan of Chao Kingdom formed the surname Chao. The famous family surnamed Chao lived in Pengcheng County, which is now the area of ??Xuzhou and Tongshan, Jiangsu Province.
