The origin of the surname Pei

The Pei family comes from the Zhao family named Ying, after Boyi.

Bo Yi is the ancestor of the surname Ying. When his direct descendants reached Zaofu, they were granted the title of Zhao City due to their military exploits. From then on, the surname Ying Die became the Zhao family. There is a descendant of the Zhao family named "Feizi" from the common people. Because he was good at raising horses, he was granted the title of Qinting by King Xiao of Zhou and established the Qin State. At the time of Duke Huan of Qin, Duke Huan's youngest son was named "Zhao Zhen". Because he was favored by his father during his lifetime, after his father's death, he was worried that he would be persecuted by his brother Qin Jinggong Zhao Shi, so he fled to the state of Jin for refuge. Duke Ping of Jin granted Peixiang (today's Wenxi County, Shanxi Province) to Zhao Zhen as a food town. After Qin Jinggong died, his son Qin Aigong came to the throne, and Zhao Zhen returned to Qin. Some of his descendants still lived in Pei Township, so they took "Pei" as their surname. This is the authentic ancestral origin of the Pei family today.
