Guotai Junan is the name of the new company after the merger of Cathay Securities and Junan Securities. Junan Securities used to be the largest domestic securities firm, but due to poor management, it suffered huge losses and ultimately had no choice but to merge with Cathay Pacific.

(HK.1788), a subsidiary of Guotai Junan Financial Holdings Co., Ltd., was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, achieving the first IPO of a company owned by a mainland securities company in Hong Kong. In March 2011, Guotai Junan International Holdings was selected into the Hong Kong Hang Seng The financial component stocks of the Comprehensive Index have become the only component stocks of Chinese securities companies.
