Taoist Origin of Longmen Grottoes

Longmen Sect is a branch of Quanzhen Sect of Taoism, which has a great influence on Taoism. Qiu Chuji founded the Dragon School according to Quanzhen teachings, and further developed it by sending disciples. He played an important role in Taoism and was an influential key figure. Longmen tribe is named after living in Longmen Cave in Longzhou.

Qiu Chuji (1 148 ~ 1227), a native of Qixia County, Dengzhou, Shandong Province, was born in the late Southern Song Dynasty (1 148-1227), whose real name was Qiu Ge, and Qiu Chuji studied under Wang Zhongyang. Qiu Chuji perfected the Quanzhen ethics in Longmen Cave 13 years of practice, and gradually became the most accomplished Quanzhen Taoist in the history of Taoism in China. He was respected by the Southern Song Dynasty, the Jin Dynasty and the Yuan Dynasty, and was summoned by Jin Shizong and Yuan Taizu many times. He was canonized as a national teacher by Genghis Khan and was in charge of Taoism in the country. From then on, Longmen Cave became famous, stepped into glory and reached its peak. Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty wrote a couplet in Baiyun Temple in Beijing: "Never eat a meal to find the secret, and you will know that you can help the world with one word", and spoke highly of Qiu Chuji's feat. Up to now, there are still some relics in Longmen Cave, such as the grinded stone in Qiuzu Cave and the stone carving of the Song of Heaven.

In the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty (1662 ~ 1722), Changyue Wang, the abbot of Baiyun Temple, publicly preached the precepts, and the Dragon Sect flourished from then on, with more than 1000 disciples being ordained at one time. Longmen disciples were named in turn according to the designated list, which was originally 20 words, but later multiplied by disciples and increased to 100 words. Because Chuanpai was founded in Qiu Chuji, Qiu enjoys a high reputation and lives in Longmen Cave, his disciples are naturally authentic Dragon Sect. However, Baiyun Temple was the place where Qiu was canonized by the imperial court and the ancestral temple in Huxian County was the burial place. Therefore, all the disciples in the three places are regarded as disciples of the Dragon Sect of Quanzhen Sect, and all the three places are regarded as the birthplace of Longmen tribe by believers and respected (called Quanzhen Zongzu, Qiu Chuji as the leader, and the real Dragon Sect refers to the descendants of Zhao after Qiu Chuji). Therefore, Longmen Cave in Longxian County, Baiyun Temple in Beijing, Yongle Palace in Shanxi Province and Chongyang Palace in Huxian County, Shaanxi Province are called "Quanzhen Zuting". Because of the different places of communication, all tribes are classified, but they all recognize Longmen Sect as a sect.

The doctrine of Longmen Daoism is the whole truth doctrine formulated by Wang Zhongyang, 15: ① To become a monk, you must first enter the temple; (2) Traveling in the clouds to seek the Tao, not avoiding danger and resisting; ③ Learning books (reading, calligraphy) is based on understanding; (4) Studying drugs to help the world; (5) buddhist nun must have a roof to avoid the light of the sun and the moon, but it cannot build tall buildings and be isolated from the ground; ⑥ Have a Taoist as a companion to exchange monastic experience; ⑦ meditation; 8 Seek stability and never worry; Pet-name ruby integrates five elements of essence and qi, and has five qi; Attending to tighten reason in tolerance and slow down in refinement; ⑾ Repair life; ⑿ Accumulate merits; [13] Beyond the realm of desire, color and non-color; [14] healthy; ⒂ lost heart, really passed away.
