"Chengdu" is a Di-Qiang language. "Cheng" is the name of the Shu people, meaning plateau people; "Du" means region or place. It means a place where people "come into being".
As for the origin of the name Chengdu, according to the records of "Taiping Huanyu Ji", it is borrowed from the historical process of the establishment of the capital in the Western Zhou Dynasty. "The king Tai of the Zhou Dynasty stopped at Qishan from Liangshan, and it took one year to build a city, and three years to build Chengdu. Hence the name Chengdu."
According to historical records, around the middle of the 5th century BC, during the ninth reign of the Kaiming Dynasty of the ancient Shu Kingdom, the capital was moved from Fanxiang, Guangdu (today's Shuangliu County) to Chengdu to build a city.

The word "Chengdu" is a transliteration of the Shu language by the Central Plains people. At that time, the ancient Shu people called their capital (Chengdu) ""dudu", which means the capital of Shu, because the ancient word "Shu" was pronounced ""du". The Han people in the Central Plains transliterated the capital of Shu as "Chengdu", which means that it was the last city of Shu. Although the sunset was infinitely beautiful, it was almost dusk. Not long after the Kaiming Dynasty of ancient Shu moved its capital, Qin's golden horse crushed it. The dream of the enlightened dynasty was shattered, and the history of the ancient Shu Kingdom came to an end, so Chengdu was the "last city";
The Cancong family in ancient Shu invented the city wall, so Cancong This tribe is also called "Chongyong". With the change of dynasties, when the ancient Shu Kingdom opened its Ming Dynasty, its tribes were still called "Chongyong" or "Yongcheng", or simply "Cheng"; and "Du" means nothing more than "a gathering of people". "Capital", so the capital of the Kaiming Dynasty was called "Chengdu".
Chengdu is an ancient cultural city with a history of more than 2,000 years. Before the 4th century BC, Chengdu was the capital of the Shu Kingdom.
