What do you think about the phenomenon that some children take their mother’s surname?

In most families in China, the children take the father's surname. Only a small number of families where the man comes to visit, or the children of families with many children and more open-minded families take the mother's surname. In Western countries, it is normal for children to take their father's surname. After marriage, a wife also has to take her husband's surname and change it to her husband's surname.

If this kind of thinking in China is influenced by traditional feudal thought, then why does this happen in Western countries with democracy and freedom that have always been highly respected by the Chinese people? Because of love? So why doesn’t the husband take his wife’s last name?

Two people get married and form a family because of love. Children are the crystallization of love, the witness of two people’s love, and the “same property” of two people. Under normal circumstances, according to tradition, children should take their father's surname, which means the inheritance of incense and blood. But if the mother wants the child to bear her own surname, that's okay. It's a piece of flesh that fell off the mother's body after she was pregnant for ten months, so it's reasonable. Why is it that in this era of open-mindedness and freedom, there is still a debate about whether a child should take his father's surname or his mother's surname? Really shouldn't.

Since we choose to be together because of love, it is understandable no matter which parent's surname the child takes. A family, the most important thing is family harmony. I have a classmate who is a boy. He takes her mother’s surname, and his sister takes her father’s surname. His parents were introduced to each other by others, but they fell in love with each other and eventually got married. Before the siblings were born, the couple had agreed that the first child would take the husband's surname, and the second child would take the wife's surname. Taking the husband's last name is to follow tradition, and taking the wife's last name is out of love. Someone said behind their back that the two children with two surnames may not be biological, but many years have passed and their family is still as happy as ever.

Today's parents will add both the father's and mother's surnames when naming their children. This way there won’t be any debate!
