Jiahe first year 2: Jiahe

"On Balance. It is said in "Tao Rui" that "Jiahe is born in the corn and has different ears from the corn, so it is called Jiahe." My five-month-old son is named Jiahe. The reason for this name is thanks to Su Dongpo.

At first, it took a lot of thinking to name the unborn child. I have a special column called "New Names" in my computer, where I can write down "inspirations and experiences" at any time. I bought several books on naming, borrowed two more from friends, and spent 230 yuan on the 1999 edition of "Cihai."

Based on the experience of giving birth to three daughters, my mother-in-law believed that the youngest daughter would most likely give her a granddaughter. My wife believed it to be true, so much so that we, the young couple, named our child "Yin wins and Yang declines." The names of many beautiful girls in "A Dream of Red Mansions" and "The Tale of Genji" were widely used for reference. Many graceful names were given to her, such as Ruoyin, Zhibai, and Siruo. Her father also gave her a foreign name, "Lisa." There are relatively few names for boys. According to the old tradition, the father gave him famous names such as "Mingwei and Mingsong" according to his generation. It is said that the names his parents privately named were no less than three pages full.

Once, I was reading Su Dongpo's "Xiyu Pavilion" and was very interested in Su Zi's sentence "The Duke of Zhou got the grain, so he named his book; the Han Dynasty got the cauldron, so he named his year". From the annotation, we know the origin of the word "Jiahe": King Zhou Cheng's younger brother got a strange seedling and presented it to King Cheng. Cheng Yu gave it to his uncle Zhou Gongdan, so Zhou Gong wrote a book named For "Jiahe". I flipped through "Cihai" (page 671 of the abbreviated version) and explained: "The ancients called the rice seedlings that grow particularly vigorously Ruizheng." So I added "Jiahe" to my "favorites".

The book said that children's names should be bold, so there were names named after heaven: "Tianhe, Tiancheng, Tianhe, Tianxi, Tianxi, Tianqian, Tianhe, Tianhe" ".

Because my lover’s surname is Bai, there are many names with the character Bai: “Yu Bai, Yu Bai, Yun Bai, Jun Bai, Run Bai, Ming Bai, De Bai, Zhao Bai, Rui Bai, Shuo Bai” , Zibai" and so on.

There were many names, but there was only one child. Until my son was born on March 1 this year and was discharged from the hospital on the 6th, the name had not yet been decided, which was really frustrating. The baby name was decided, because my sister’s little cousin who was born 80 days earlier was named Lele, and my parents preferred to name their grandson “He He” to show joy and good luck. The two of us decided to share this beautiful baby name with the old man. wish.

After looking up the dictionary and reading Cihai, when my son was about to turn 12 days old, my family and I made a difficult choice among "Tiancheng, Jiahe, Jiahe, and Tianhe" after repeated deliberation. My father I feel that the Chinese character "天成" should be avoided in conjunction with my cousin's baby name. My mother and lover feel that "Jiahe" has a girlish flavor, and my son's uncle thinks that "Tianhe" does not have a deep meaning. On March 11, the head nurse of the obstetrics and gynecology department signed the son's name on the birth certificate - "Jiahe". He got the name because of reading Su Dongpo's article.

Although the name is just a symbol, I believe that when my son grows up, he will understand the good intentions of his relatives and the deep love and expectations in his name.
